I just can't wait to have the new League game, this game, the new cricket game and perhaps even the new rugby game when it comes out!!

Isn't the new league game and the new rugby game the same thing?

Also, you mean IC10 for cricket? That's been out for quite a while haha.

A couple of burning questions here Ross.

Is there anything you can mention about the Wii AFL game? Maybe even if it's being handled by you guys or another dev and any hint at when we might be able to get any info for that?

Also, what do you do from day to day? Since you are the 'boss' do you just order people around and look at how the progress is going or do you get your hands dirty and work on a bunch of the in-game stuff too?
There will be a player creator.
Any expansion to this comment? I guess the only thing I'm really looking for is are we able to implant our faces onto a created player like in previous AFL games and the current batch of EA Sports titles?
Two boxes is the max, sorry to disappoint. This is due to having 18 players per side multiplied by the number of boxes, the bandwidth required would be too high.

Those two boxes can have a total of 8 players in any configuration 1 v 7, 4 v 4, and players from either location can play on either of the selected teams.
Have to say that's a bit of a bummer, was looking forward to 1, 1, 1, 1 vs 1, 1, 1, 1 contests.

Are you able to say the bandwidth comparison to having just the 2 box system as to what a potential 8 box would be?

I think he means Union (Which as far as I'm aware there isn't anything about it). And IC10 won't be out in Australia until October to cash in on the Ashes series.

Ive been following this since AFL was first announced and i know ill be buying it if its crap or awesome as i assume most of you will be. This is why i dont get why you all argue when it should be released i say earlier the better cos most people that play games and follow the AFL will buy it regardless of the timing.

Ross, i know youve mentioned the Ruck contest already but will Sandilands be as dominant as in real life. Winning 90% of hitouts cos i can see it already he will be the player people will trade for the most if it is the case lol

They have markets that overlap... I'm contemplating buying the rugby game, but if the AFL game comes out. i won't bother.

I wouldn't get my hopes up if i was you lynchy, think negative and then you don't feel let down when it doesn't happen till later

It does not bother me, I am in the UK and won't be back until November anyway so if it releases in Sept I still miss out!

I just think it is a bit unfair when people, not yourself , actually sound bitter about the game possible coming out next season. They should just trust what Ross has said, and that is all along they have a release date in mind, hope to stick to that etc, and their website does say coming out in 2010, it does not say an exact date, but have faith 2010 it will come!

They have said nothing to suggest that it won't come out, and I don't know anything about making games or selling them but I would have thought that the only major reason why the game would be delayed is because it was not ready in time, which this game actually sounds to be almost complete or at least well on the way to being complete.

I look at in the positive way and this way > It comes out in finals time, people are hyped about finals, footy is still on and in their minds, people will buy the game and play it! , then when it comes around to next season there may be possible updates to download, people who don't have the game then buy the game at the start or during next season, whilst that is going on, Big Ant are well on their way to getting game 2 done.

It will sell either way, but how many people will buy the game and continually play it throughout the whole AFL season, I don't think it makes much difference if its sold this football season or during next, people will buy it!!

Only concern about it being a release for the following season would be

1- people would complain that the rosters are not up to date, for example a "Micheal Barlow" might be rookied again, come out and be one of the favorites for the brownlow medal but on the game they may be one of the worst ranked players because they were a rookie that people did not really know to much about. I personally think it is easier and more enjoyable for everyone involved if the attributes of players were from the current season.

Second thing was, good luck trying to promote and hype the game up for release come summer time here, it will be ASHES fever, the average person would not really take any notice of ads etc until around the start of march wouldn't they with the cricket being on

Nope http://www.hb-studios.com/rugby2012/.

And yep, but I haven't bothered to buy it off the net yet and judging by what I've just read about it, I'm not sure I will ha.

Oh right haha, I don't follow rugby so I wasn't aware. Though if it's a "2012" game shouldn't that mean it'll be released in the latter stages of 2011? Still ages away I would've thought.

Oh and IC10's not so bad, depends what you thought of AC09. There's an IC10 thread where I've posted impressions if you're tossing up whether or not to buy it.

I think he did mention that height and stats would come into it more.

Would a Joe average care about buying an AFL game though, unless you love or like the game why would you buy it.

You kidding? When it comes to Soccer, Basketball, Ice Hockey and NFL I consider myself a 'Joe Average' as I couldn't name 5 players from any of those sports, but, when it comes to the video games of these sports, I get them if I hear enough about them.

As for the ongoing release date issue, again, I hope you guys who are saying 2010 are right but Big Ant would be crazy to release 2 games at the same time - 90% sure it will be next year (slight chance of X-Mas release), sorry guys.

Oh, and thanks for the info Ross.

Agreed. When you get the hang of it it is quite entertaining, albeit long. For some reason, I really like the way catching the ball is done, with the red, orange then green circle for the timer. It's a blast catching the ball in slips.

One negative, commentary becomes very repetitive, very quickly.

Off topic still, and on the commentary note, NHL 10 is by far the best commentary in a video game I've heard. Very fluent all round especially with players names and it doesn't seem to get repetitive at all. Special comments are also pretty good and there seems to be a lot of them. Anyone else think this or know another game with really good commentary?

I strongly disagree.

Yeah haha, if you want to get technical West Coast winning is literally impossible, whereas I'd say it's still a 50/50 chance for when it's released. Obviously I know he wasn't being literal but still, I disagree aswell.

If you read what Ross has said in posts, about saying the game is pretty much complete just tweaking, that every player had been photographed and measured up, and a comment saying that every player will look as they did when photographed, and said they can't use old photos for that reason, that means if everyone has been photographed and modeled in game.

Big Ant would therefore want the game up with current rosters, to do the game justice, and why would a publisher want to wait 6 months to release the game and as soon as it is released it is "stale" because the rosters/images are not up to date.

It means that any player delisted would be deleted from the game, or go into a pool of players that you could draft from? but then means that the 100 or so new AFL draftee's, and Rookie picks would then have to be photographed , measured up and modeled, and not to mention, any single player who has a different hairstyle, new tattoos etc then again has to be remodeled , I am only assuming that on the couple of posts Ross said that they can't use old photos, they were modeled on the shots/measurements they took.

Too many people on here are being so negative on here saying there is no chance it will come out this year, when everything that has been said put together looks good for a 2010 release.

Some are getting to impatient with the lack of screenshots/announcements, official news, they think that just because nothing has been said now that it won't come out, when if they just took some time to read a few things Ross has said it points towards an on time release, which their website does say 2010,and until we hear otherwise I don't know why people choose to criticise or be so negative about the release date

He will certainly make it easier to win the ruck contest, but player skill will obviously play a big part.

Will players in all positions be more involved in the game for example back pocket/ forward flankers which barely were noticeable in the last versions of the game?

Thats why I said "When it comes out".

I liked AC09, but from what I've heard I'm not sure IC10 sounds like that much more of an improvement to justify spending the cash on it.

I don't know why people keep referring back to the original games because Big Ant had nothing to do with them.

I know that Ross mentioned that he played the s*** out of them as I believe we all did and he knows what worked and what didn't work.

I actually didn't mind the old AFL games. They have come a long way over the years and I will be the first to admit it, our game is the best game on earth and for anyone to try an emulate that on a computer platform gets a big thumbs up from me.:thumbsu:

We all understand that you can't cover every aspect of our game because it involves 360 degrees, full on action covering a field which is around 200m big.

Regardless of all that, everything you have said so far Ross has certainly wet my appetite and made me hungry for more!

Any more goss?

We are just keeping our hopes in check

Mate, i work in the industry, and the amount of game delays i see is tremendous. And that people are still shocked by delays is staggering. It happens in this industry. I would rather wait for a finished game, than get 1 that doesn't quite work

Everyone here would love to see a 2010 release, we are not being negative, just being realistic that it might happen

Really really excited for this game, I have restored faith in this which is quite staggering considering how negative I was early on.

Just one question, I have read the line 'Season Mode' - but will there be a 'Career Mode' ?

Wait, I thought it was 4 v 4 online?

So you're saying it could really only be 1 v 1 seeing you can only have two systems on (if each playstation owner only has one controller and no one else to play online)?

Or have I completely mis-read what was said/don't understand?

Yep 1 x 1 machine, the other 6 players are made up from secondary controllers

Yeah I think you're right. Cos it's only 2 systems that can play against each other then really it's a 1 v 1 situation. However, you can still have multiple players on 1 system so you can put your team of 4 against another team of 4 online.

EDIT: ^^^ what he said
