Has anyone got this? I've been in the US for a few years now and can't remember anything like this being available when I was in Australia. Is it worth the $40 + postage to have it sent over here? Thought I'd see what people have to say about it before I throw my money on it. Cheers.

The book is $40 Opti, not the postage, and Copernicus if you're asking is it worth it then the answer is YES.

I think Optimax might be thinking of the abridged NAB Cup version. The book itself is approx 700 pages of just about every argument settling footy fact you'd want to know, and will keep you up to date between the weekly game shown at 3am on cable over there.

And as a Cat fan you should also get a copy of last years Footy Almanac - every game of the year covered in a refreshing way. Go to footyalmanac.com.au

Buying it every year isnt worth it

but every 2-3 years is probably great

I have 06 and 09 and it's got enough updates to make it well worth the read (09)

but 06 wasnt worth it after I had 05. Not many updates

Thanks mate. Might have to see how much shipping costs first - that could be the kicker. But would definitely be worth thinking about. Thanks for the tip on the almanac, too.

I would always buy the AFL Prospectus over the AFL Record Season Guide. Depends whether you want stats or more historical facts. As I have last years Record the only real updates are minimal.

Spoke to the local newsagent and was told it was supposed to be out last week and they're still waiting on it. This is in Brisbane so it may already be out in other cities.

When I was in a newsagency last Thursday I went looking for it

Couldn't see it
Didn't ask though

this was at the Newsagency at the shopping center across the road from AAMI Stadium.

It's available everywhere here in Melbourne. $40 is extremely steep though, especially when they drop majorly in price later in the year. The AFL Shop at Doncaster started selling the 2009 books for $5 pretty much straight after the grand final.

As a souvenier it's not worth $40, as a Dream Team reference
you're better off getting the prospectus.

I had a look for it at the weeken in the newsagency near my home, but couldn't see it. I may have to look a bit further afield as I'm not sure the Asian owner would understand the importance of this publication, or the AFL Prospectus for that matter.

Racism is cool when you're a mod.

I call it the footy bible and it answers every stat question possible.

Got a copy from every year since 1997. My sister buys it as my annual birthday present so I don't really care how much it costs!

I just enjoy finding mistakes in the book and emailing the editor. The most i have found is about 25 in the one season. The editor normally replies saying thanks and your updates will be noted next season - and they are included. Was always hopin they might throw a free copy my way for the effort but alas no...:(

Um, check the lowest winning score - Adelaide

It used to be 50 vs Fitzroy, untill we beat North 49-42 in 04 or something

i dont beleive they had updated it to 48 vs Collingwood in the 90s though

I just didnt know how to contact the guy

Racist for merely mentioning the word 'Asian'? Guess that makes me racist too.

Maybe I'll hold off.

Implying that an owner of a newsagency wouldn't 'understand the importance' of a particular publication because he is Asian? If it's unimportant, why do we make reference to the fact that he is Asian?
Might just be playing devil's advocate, but I would have expected a bit better from somebody who supposedly is a moderator around here...

You managed to take my post way out of context. That is quite an effort. You're not a journalist are you?

I was merely saying that I don't think some members of our Asian community, particularly here on the Gold Coast, understand the passion some of us have for Aussie Rules & perhaps would not expect a demand for publications such as the AFL Record Season Guide or the AFL Prospectus.

Do you actually think if I was racist I would go to a newsagency owned by someone of Asian descent? There are plenty of newsagencies here on the Gold Coast not owned by Asians, but I find my local newsagent to be very friendly & he always wishes me good luck for my lotto ticket (I seem to need all the luck I can get with the Lotto).

Yer they updated that one to the Collingwood game (from Rd 21 in 1997) in the 2007 book.
