2nds Ah Chee player of the week

Andrew Moore

Like Arch he contested hard around stoppage - would like to see it for longer periods in the game though. In the next few weeks Andrew just needs to string four good quarters together and dominate his direct opponent.

Moore must need to get 20 clearances, 10 I50's, 12 tackles, 5 goals and 40 possessions over 3 weeks to be looked at for AFL

Sorry, had to format your post :p

I don't read it like that at all. I read it as that he's on the verge of a call up but he needs to be consistent for four quarters because you can't afford to be a passenger at AFL level. They gave Mitchell 2nd best on and this was his write up:
Kane Mitchell

Mitch was another player for us who had a four-quarter effort, but during the first half he undid some of his good work through some skill errors.

That's how much they rate a four quarter effort. The fact that Hocking said 'In the next few weeks Andrew JUST needs to string four good quarters together' is the key. If they wanted him to do it for multiple weeks, they would have said 'For the next few weeks Andrew needs to string four good quarters together.' They just want one game where he demands selection with his performance - it would have been this week had he not gone to sleep in the last and let Ah Chee steal his spot.

Just one four good quarter performance. They want to select him, but they can't do it when other players are having a better game every week. And that's always been Moore's problem - he doesn't have enough mongrel to push other players out of the way and grab the ball for himself. It's the SANFL Andrew - no one is going to give a shit if you block and shepherd so Ah Chee can get his 7 clearances and 9 inside 50s. Go look after yourself, buddy.

Perhaps the best review Hoon has had this season noting his use of the ball. Maybe not far off?

Sam Colquhoun
Bit of a different role for Sam this week with an opportunity to play a little higher up the ground. Won plenty of possession and used it extremely well and worked his opponent into the ground with elite running.

Was on Ah Chee before it was cool.

He's my version of Schulzenfest 's Jonas.

All aboard!
You can have this one. I will say in support of you I said on numerous occasions that the early calls to delist were silly.

Man I always forget about Colquhoun, but then I remember his final series in 2013. Can’t wait till he is back in the side.

Reads like Moore isn't in the frame for selection despite playing well enough for AFL. Really starting to look like he won't be with us in 2016.

I agree somewhat but would put the caveat that we have 3 inside mids currently just out of the 22 and they all need to continue to show something as we won't be rolling with all of them next year. It will come down to a combination of age and potential. Moore, Young and Ah Chee - all pretty level at this stage.

The suspension really hurt Moore though at a time when he would have walked into the 22. And to think Minson got off.....

It has no doubt been mentioned before, but those who were calling for Arch's head after only 2 years on the list clearly hadn't given much thought to the fact that he was only a 17 yo when drafted.

First of all, Young is not an inside mid - he's a HFF who can spend some time in the midfield as an inside/outside player and is excellent at clearing the ball. He's more Brad Ebert than Ollie Wines.

Secondly, even if he WAS an inside mid - why wouldn't we roll with all of them? Does having a grand total of 4 inside mids (Wines, Young, Moore, Ah Chee) mean we have an abundance of them to the point where on a 40 man list we would rather play another flanker over one of them? Imagine what would happen to the Magpies if one of Moore/Ah Chee/Young wasn't in the squad.

As long as all of them are happy enough to stay with the club, I'm happy enough to give them contracts.

I remember the first time I saw Arch at a family day soon after being drafted. Couldn't believe he was listed as a mid when I looked it up, was a big unit even then. Would be perfect for us if he comes on. The value of having someone inside to create space for the likes of Boak can't be understated. Just take a look at last week's game to see how little time & space he was afforded.

Sydney don't seem to struggle with an abundance of insiders

Andrew Moore's situation is really starting to get a feel of the Adam Thomson's about it.

In what way mate? I rate Moore but it's not hard to see why he isn't in the side. There are guys performing better.

Thomson wasn't getting games at a time when, well there really wasn't much competition. From the outside it was pretty quizzical.

Moore is a better player than Adam. Imo, Moore is quality but for a number of reasons he seems to not be able to get a really consistent run at it. However he needs to make it happen and happen soon.

I wasn't comparing the two as players, more so the way both were asked to keep performing at a high level in the SANFL and kept stringing together quality performance after quality performance while inferior players kept getting the call up ahead of them.
