I do believe we traded Beams. Last I checked we didn't send him to the draft. And also he was a contracted player yet we still met his wishes. So yeah it is a huge difference.

I know its a hard concept for you, but its only day 1 of trade week....plenty of water to go under the bridge yet

Offer pick 7 and I bet we sit down and listen. You instead want to use that on Treloar, so as much as Collingwood say they will do as much as they can to get Aish, are they really?
Don!t be a fool. Your not going to get pick 7 for him. Just like we aren't going to get a top ten pick for Freeman. Let's not confuse what we desire with what is realistic

If your club has a change of heart and decides to trade then I retract what I have said. But our current conversation is going off the information we have to date

So I take it you were of this same opinion about the 5pm deadline last season? You know, when the shoe is on the other foot?

Freeman is an injury prone player who hasn't played in 2 years. You should be grateful for anything around pick 50.

Again, if you really want Aish like the club says it does, offer something appropriate. We don't care either way, I don't even like Aish and think he's a squib, but for whatever reason Collingwood like him, so offer up.

I believed our club should have made a very strong stance. Why? He was UNDER CONTRACT. You poached a contracted player. So yeah I wanted the club to be strong but I still wanted the deal done. NO use having a player at your club who doesn't want to be there. But if you read through the trade threads on our board you will see very few people jumping up and down regarding freeman. There is anger and disappointment but ultimately the realization that a deal needs to get done. And we are resigned to the fact that we will get unders for him. Sh*t happens.

Do you know the in's and outs of the the adcock position. He had a contract offer (mid season) but also wanted guaranteed playing time. WE couldn't give him that guarantee,

Quite understandably ... No club should guarantee any player game time :thumbsu:

at which time we retracted the offer. At no stage have we mucked him around. He wasn't happy with our terms, we've decided to go our separate ways.....

There's another side to the story ...

Aren't you offering an ideal that Aish wanted out last season? If so, why didn't he speak up then?

Perhaps because he respected the fact that he was contracted?

Why continually postpone contract talks if he never wished to actually engage in them?

Perhaps he didn't want his leaving to be a distraction for the 2015 season?

You are right in some respects, but he is still contracted to the lions until after the trade period. Then it becomes his prerogative to get to where he wants in either the draft or PSD.

Offering a 2nd rounder and oxley isn't really a good start to negotiations.........

I actually rate Oxley ... He had a cracking first half of the season. I'd be disappointed to see him go.

Who should we offer to. Your club is not talking to us. It is hard to negotiate when when party refuses to come to the table

And he obviously doesnt think much of Brisbane either. A trade will get done because I doubt those Bears list management types can be as dumb as they appear. I doubt you'll get much of a say in it either really.

Fine. He goes to Carlton. The 3 stooges at Collingwood can go whinge all they like to the media how they've been unfairly treated. We've got picks 2, 17, 21 and will get 2 young highly rated kids from QLD. Do we really need another mid 20s pick?

You do realise Brisbane don't have to trade him don't you? Where does it say, if a player requests a trade the club MUST do it? Worst case he goes in draft and will still be traded to a Vic team anyway.

I draw your attention to the interviews gone by both Adelaide and Geelong yesterday once the Dangerfield deal went through. Both camps almost went out of their way to acknowledge the interests on the player and opposition team that whilst the deal was always going to be seen as a win-lose situation in some quarters, both clubs negotiated in good faith to get a compromise deals so that all parties could move on.

This directly from The Age's Michael Gleeson:

"Geelong smelt the breeze and realised their hope of securing Dangerfield for nothing as a free agent was an ambit hope that was not going to fly. They moved on quickly from that – as the smarter clubs do – and set about working the best trade they could. What they gave up was neither niggardly nor extravagant.

Adelaide understood whatever they were getting was vastly superior to free agency compensation and did not dig in for an unrealistic trade. They knew that a club cannot make an uncontracted player stay – Brisbane presently argues otherwise – so once Dangerfield was out the door they worked for the best deal they could and they got it."

Meanwhile in Brisbane, Nero (Leigh Matthews) fiddles whilst Rome (Brisbane FC) burns........

I think you will find that most of us can live with him going to Carlton. We don't lose anything. Carlton gains Brisbane lose Collingwood zero effect.
If you don't need picks stop going to the AFL at the end of every season begging for handouts.

Oh they want handouts just not 2nd round handouts. It's the age of entitlement.

No we're not. Aish won't be at Brisbane next year and we are ok with that. We have NO obligation to give him to Collingwood, that's the bottom line.

Once he plays 100+ games and is a loyal servant, I'm sure the club will look after him, as they did with Redden.

Looking forward to LMFAO when picks 2, 17 and 21 ask to be traded away from your soulless, culture deprived excuse for a football club in 2 years time.

Keep living the dream, campaigner........:thumbsu:

I'm happy to concede that the likelihood Jed's version of events are skewed to suit his narrative, the lions to theres - likely somewhere in between is the truth.

Aish heaped the pressure on himself, creating bigger distractions as the weeks wore on. Had he said in the wake of his injury in rd 17, given an indication of his intentions, we could have planned accordingly, probably even worked with James to get the best possible outcome.

I'm not sold that Oxley will make it, as I said, he's the crisp component in the deal

As we did with Beams?

You can't have a sook about us not letting Beams come to you but it's a calamity to your club if an uncontracted player want to select a club of choice to be traded to.

Ah Brisbane, more than just daylight saving behind the rest of Australia!!!

We would have got Beams a year later for nothing, so lets not pretend Collingwood have hearts of gold, they were only looking after themselves.

Oxley seems to have the Collingwood supporters divided.
Some like me think he is a good footballer and would prefer him to stay. İs a great contested mark and is a very good kick
The main criticism of him is that some people think he is a bit soft. Either way he is definitely not a spud. Our spud is Jessie White.

Do you actually have any proof that we aren't negotiating for Aish, or are you still you basing this on Lethal's tough talk pre trade week/month?

Do you have any proof that your club is willing to negotiate?

Lethal has spoken to that's it, end of discussion. That's been your club's position once the Aish decision was made public.

We would be getting ripped big time Anderson just isn't that good.

Then remove him from the deal? Let's say we put O'Brien in instead and it's still good value. We could even if we came out with Treloar and Aish alone for two firsts and a second it's a great deal because Treloar alone is arguably worth two firsts.

I'd also argue that Anderson doesn't need to be good he just needs to improve our list and for mine he'll do that more than Rioli for instance.

Getting back to Aish. The whole situation is starting to annoy me. We need him big time and the further this drags on the more I just want to see the clubs getting it done and resolving it professionally ala Adelaide and Geelong.

Yeah it's all good to hang shit on Brisbane, but no one wins out of the current state of play running it's course. Look at Adelaide they've bled quality (Dangerfield, Davis, Gunston and Tippet) over the past 3-4 years, but they just get on with the job...

Trade week isn't over yet, you're jumping the gun a bit here.....

I just wish beams had stayed an extra season with you lot, would you have accepted and aish for beams trade?

If Collingwood really want him, they'll offer accordingly. If Brisbane still say no then that's the way it is, but please don't offer 2nd rounders and dud players. That's just wasting our time.
Calling Ox a dud is immature and unfounded, I for one am against trading him. He will only get better, have a look and educate yourself. He is best 22 at Collingwood IMHO and a solid player that would only benefit Brisbane. Aish wants out, personally if he gets to us great, if not then I wish him all the best even at Carlton and that is worst case for Brisbane. It's a business, we are losing a top 10 for possibly a second or third round pick. We made the most out of losing Beams, we had a sook but got over it and made the most of it.

We would have got Beams a year later for nothing, so lets not pretend Collingwood have hearts of gold, they were only looking after themselves.

Enlighten us all?

Tell us how again you would have got him for nothing?

We all enjoy a good fairytale involving bears and goldilocks!!!!!
