He is a small forward. He kicks about a goal a game. He is strong overhead and evasive on the ground. He is an accurate long kick. The only lacks are that he is not blindingly quick, and he doesn't manage the instinctive get and kick accuracy that the best of his ilk do. We have nobody better with these skills. With Elliott, who is not as long a kick but is quicker, he makes a useful pairing.
From the talk, Howe is not destined to compete for the same position. As I read it, they are expecting to use Howe up the ground as a half forward -winger who will be a marking target running into the forward line, rather than leading out of it for the most part. The three of them would seem to be sharing two on field and one interchange spots.
All three would appear to have places if that is what the management is preparing for.

I've already got him listed as trade bait next year. He'll most likely get traded to Richmond after they try recruit one of Walters, ballers, rioli, brust and miss out on Lindsey Thomas aswell

Thought he did that this season when he got back into the seniors, needs to build on that in 2016.

My post was regarding his of field stuff......If you want to be the best you have to step up in both areas.

Without looking at stats, i think the Fasolo of 2015 was getting much closer to where we want him to be. I think the time in the VFL over the previous 18 months or so has been very useful - whether to specifically develop aspects of his game, or if just changing his mentality at AFL level.

Fas is clearly a talented offensive option. He is one of those guys who can create goals from nothing and has a great boot on him. For him to be truly damaging though, he needs to be doing those things consistently, and he needs to become much better at crumbing off our bigs, rather than trying to be the target himself (ditto for Elliott).

But what he needs to be providing to be able to hold down his place is the other stuff - and that is where I think he made big improvements for a good stretch this year.
He needs to keep looking at getting others involved, and not always smack it on his boot if there are better options. He needs to much improve his tackling and defensive pressure, as well as his willingness to push up into the midfield when the opposition have the ball. He also probably needs to work on his tank and be able to keep providing something consistently when we dont have the ball.

Personally, i am pretty optimistic about Fas achieving the stuff in that 2nd paragraph more consistently - at least much more optimistic than i was 12 months ago. I think he is now able to provide enough off the ball that (given his much better offensive output) he has been able to push Blair out of the starting forward line, and made that defensive forward role less of a necessity.

His concentration levels are f'd. But I still think after you factor that with his ability I think he just scrapes into our top 22. I think its a personality trait of his that is a flaw he just can't shake. Still valuable though not only in our top 22.. we basically would srruggle if Elliott were to get injured when faz is our only noteable replacement player who specializes in that position.

Do you mean the "Prince of Perth" and "The Faz" stuff, or is there something else im missing?
That stuff does seem to be a bit tongue-in-cheek, and the other players do seem to get a kick out of giving him sh*t for it.

If its about that arrogance stuff (which i kinda view more as a faux-arrogance/persona type of stuff), I agree it can sound a bit off putting, but i dont really mind it - in fact i think it has a role in footy, particularly as a small forward. You often need that Didak, Stevie J type that always thinks he is a chance to kick a goal - it just needs to be balanced with hard work and the ability to recognise when a teammate is a better option, which I think Fas has really built on.
People complain about guys like Broomhead or Elliott for not celebrating enough and being too quiet... I think we just accept that footy players have all kinds of personalities.

Off field stuff.... feel free to elaborate.

No nothing to do with the Prince or Faz stuff.......I am like you in that arrogance is required to be the best especially forwards.

As long as he doesn't become to annoying to the team I couldn't give a stuff.

I was talking about the outside influences e.g partying. It is all about balance.

I hope he get's it right in 2016.

Thereabouts
He could get many games, may not, lots of competition for spots these days.
If he addedcsome crumbing who knows....

But i love the competition for spots
Elliot
Howe
Fasolo
Likely two spots avalaible, up to him and also up to the others
Suspect hevplays very well when team goes very well

Just something I was told regarding the start of the year and also after a win interstate in 2015.

It reflects poorly on his desire and ambitions IMO.

Ability only gets you so far.......e.g Patty K!

Good call. Made a concerted effort to improve his defensive side to his game. Still a dangerous forward in the air & on the ground. For some reason his goal kicking accuracy seemed to drop off in the 2nd half of the year. Lots of upside still left in him I reckon, but he will need to improve consistency to nail a spot up forward in 2016.

I have got enormous respect for Fasolo. He's divided opinion among the fans with his inability to make the progression from a talented player with potential to the finish product. He's on his way to becoming this player in my opinion, just a matter of him playing his role which he started to do in 2015. Very underrated and critical member of the forward line with his ability to hit targets by foot and bring his teammates involved.

Fair enough, i wasnt aware of that.

Been a disappointing player from what I see. Injuries aside I think he is still a lazy player largely but do give him some credit for an improved performance late in the year.

Do not think he is best 22, and needs to step up in 2016 or I could see him being traded / delisted

Only that stopped fas having an above average season last year was missing too many shots on goal. Having said that he is finding the right balance of what he should and shouldn't be doing. Kids has X factor.

If he improves his set shots and has a slightly better output we are looking at a very potent forward line weapon.

I'm backing in Fas to kick 35-40 and get a nomination for AA.

Second half of 2015 seems to show he's heeding the messages of the coaching staff, and while I've never heard anything regarding off field issues can only assume he's moving in the right direction.
