Barnes would have taken 700 wickets easy if he played that many tests
So would've Larwood. But they had something else in their favour: uncovered pitches

Would've gone him. Unfortunately I needed a pre-1930's selection, so I chose Wilfred Rhodes. Good get. One of the best pure glovemen ever. Batting is a LITTLE shaky by all time team standards, but still, if you can bowl 'em out for 200, you don't need great batsmen. Could also play Benaud as a bowler and add another batsman/batting all rounder

Nice work last night lads. Smashed through a few picks. A little sad considering i wanted to pick most of these blokes :(

Bt just goes to prove we (most of us) are on the same wave length.

I still have 2 batsmen to pick, as well as my 3 back up slots. Just filling my greater needs first!

I also have faith in Benaud and Knott beyond what their averages suggest.

Well time to pick another local. Whilst this bloke wouldn't have had the chance to play at the new Wanderers he was well used to playing in Johannesburg.

Ballantyne Scouts welcome Bruce Mitchell - Transvaal, South Africa Pre 1930 (just) :)

This guy averaged a handy 48 whilst being the main man for a team that lacked talented batsmen. It was often commented how good he could have been if he had only had some guys to stick around out in the middle with him.

The Reaper your pick bud.
