Angry people need to also be aware that next years draft is heavily compromised, this years is nothing special as well.

So pick 33 in this draft would be more like a pick 40/50 in a stronger draft...? [emoji848]

So can someone use the pick calculator and run 3,4,20 for judd and 37 for me and make a points comparison. I think the whole points thing is complete bullshit anyway in regards to pick values. Particularly in that it overvalues picks after 25 but i'd like to see.

Not melting. Happy to have Kelly, but it still comes with a bitter taste.

If three decent picks is what we're paying for him uncontracted, then why didn't we just do that last year when Geelong claim it's what they would have taken? We'd have had an extra year of his service, he would have signed a cheaper contract and who knows what difference it would have made to this year's campaign.

Now of course I'm making the assumption that Geelong's spokespeople aren't a pack of degenerate liars which seems like a big assumption, but I dunno. It's just annoying me right now.

Fair to say though come pre-season I'll have forgotten all about it and I'll be all aboard the TK train so just let me brood about it in peace for the next little while.

We have received 52 from Essendon.

In: Kelly, 52, 57, 2020 third (GEE)
Out: 14, 24, 33, 2020 first

It's ok. Not great, not terrible (getting TK is great... the price seems fair enough).

I was pretty keen on 14, 24 +2019 R1 for Geelongs 2019 2nd round - essentially we've had to take a 3rd round instead.

Then we end up basically splitting 33 for 52 and 57. Not great but probably ok on points. Would have preferred a presence in the 2nd round though. Probably should have pushed harder for Geelongs 2020 2nd round then I would be more comfortable.

I guess you could say that after all which has happened during this massive shit fight, i'm also somewhat disappointed with the club

After the Vic wank fest, Fremantle sniffing around, Barrett and the complete Hypocrisy of trade radio, Geelongs inability to comprehend what out of contract means...

Vozzo had an opportunity to demonstrate our power, he had so many cards up his sleeve. Geelong were rattled and unprofessional.

In the end i feel Geelong got well and truly compensated. The VFL would be happy with how things have panned out. This annoys me.

Trade Radio is fapping over it and can't contain their excitement at what we've paid. Ugh.

I feel people are a little bit blinded with excitement that they can't see the bigger picture as to what we actually paid compared to what we COULD'VE paid.

I'll use Keyser as an example, given he's extremely old and sensible.

  • He thought 2 firsts + 33 was a reasonable deal.
  • 2 firsts + 24 was his limit i believe, paraphrasing i think he said he wouldn't be happy with it but he'd suck it up for a player of Kelly's calibre.
  • Now that 2 firsts + 24 + 33 has happened.... suddenly what? Everything is all good? He's happy? That pick we've just flushed was worthless?

People are throwing too much shade at picks in the 20-35 range to try and justify what was essentially a massive price we've paid.

Hate to say it, but i think we should fold and try again.

So the trade that was projected as being the most difficult by some to get done especially without any players being involved is the first trade completed

And yes I know some will say it’s because we gave Geelong everything they wanted but I guarantee they’d give all those picks back if it meant they could keep Kelly

End of the day this trade will be judged on our ability to win a flag with this midfield.

Everything else is irrelevant.

I'm actually pretty happy with this trade, maybe we paid slightly overs. But one must pay quality to get quality. As i mentioned above the real mistake was not having hin on the rookie list in 2016... but hey, hindsight's 20/20.

Bring on 2020!

Are we likely to use all 3 of our picks in the 50s and 60s? Wouldn't mind just taking a little cluster of some of the boys that helped win WA the 18s title. Just hope one of them turns out to be a gem. Someone like Bolton or Sokol from the WAFL would probably be pretty solid value at those picks too, kind of like what we did with Hutch back in 2012 when we had a similar range of selections.

Because last year it was only 1 year of service. Plenty of players ha e had 1 good year and never backed up.

Kelly showed he was no a flash in the pan.

At that stage we would have been selling the farm for a 1 year player, who was never tagged. Now hes had 2 great years and was even heavily tagged last year and still thrived.

Do we have 52, 64 and 105 or so right?

Think we move Geelongs third rounder next year to a team chasing points next year, and potentially obtain a pick between 35-45.

We’re all agreeing that we’ve paid overs, however I’m saying that I’m okay with paying overs because Kelly is a known jet in a position that we desperately need and there is no guarantee that Joe Citizen drafted with pick 33 (probably closer to 40 after all the concessions and Academy picks come in) will even play a game.

Big price to pay but the guy is a gun. Hope he fits in well and blitzes! Seeing all the comments from Geelong supporters over the past week or so I hope they **** up their picks and choose some right spuds.
