2 Nathan Fyfes even? Kelly will compliment your team no doubt. But is that worth it for younger talented players? Not so sure.

Draft picks are never a guarantee and in any event the two 18 year old kids won't be of much use in 2020. We are clearly aiming for a flag next year, may as well not die wondering by hedging our bets.

It'd be far more concerning if Tim Kelly wandered over to the Dockers because we refused to budge on a future 1st.

They say picks 1 through 30 are highly sought after as they are part of this years bumper crop! After that they forecast the talent drop off dramatically. would have got longer service from the draft selections. Interesting to see how it all pans out. About 3-5 years time will tell.
Moved heaven and earth to get him and good luck. But I suspect there might be a bullet hole in the Eagle’s foot.
Lol the insecurity is already obvious.

Richmond v West Coast next year will be tasty.

It's risky. All our eggs in one basket. We've paid a price for someone with 2 years of football at AFL level.

You'd be wanting him to keep his A grade output up as a minimum for what we've paid.

The usual slow starting of recruits like Jetta, Redden and Wellingham (idiot trampoline) can't happen with Kelly.

Is nobody concerned about the pressure the blokes going to have on him to perform and keep his body right?

Maybe a little bit of expectation would be good for the boys.

Looked way too comfortable this year.

Our first is at the bottom of the bucket. Close enough to 2nd +
The trade Coach Scott could not see being done. Now his job is done

The team is built for now. Not five years time. If the window's open now then you go for it. Everyone gets draft picks, not many can get a top five Brownlow player at the peak of his powers.

That's so dumb.

What if Fyfe runs over Walters, then careers into a deep ravine and drowns?

You can't deal in hypotheticals.

No but you can deal in risk.

In this trade we seem to have ignored our downside risk. Tim kelly is at his peak, his risk is all downside, especially on a 6 year deal.

Trading away our future first exposes us to further downside risk, as we are expected to finish right at the top meaning it has been valued at (17-18) when theoretically it could be pick 1, and more conceivably pick 12-16. There’s no upside there even if we finish first.

Trading the other draft picks has exposed us to both upside and downside risk, depending how Geelong draft/who we would have drafted.

In 12 years time we could still be feeling the effects of this trade with up to 4 players who could have been in our squad not there.

We just have to win a premiership in the next 2-3 years for this to be acceptable otherwise we’ve crippled our long term future for no reason.

No we're not. Draft picks actually appear out of thin air all the way up until clubs have the minimum number of players on their list. We're taking 52 and 64 to the draft at this stage and upgrading Watson from the rookie list to the main list with a round 5/6/7/8 draft pick etc whatever it ends up being.

Masten, MAllen and Mutimer out
Kelly, Watson and ??? In

We might be only using 1 pick.

I just don't understand the wailing at giving up draft picks (none of them in the top 10, by the way) and no players for a proven player with no injury history, no form slumps and immediate impact in our greatest area of need.
It quite simple because of our incompetence at the trade table we get the 52nd best kid rather than 33rd this year .
We sacrificed the same next year with the future 3rd instead of future 2nd .

So through nothing more than incompetence we are hurting our list going forward .

Think of the slider we could get with a pick in the 40s though!
But that is my point you have to trade to get to the 40's and no list manager is going to be that interested in 52 or 64 , So players is all you have to trade with.

Bet you were one of those that savaged the Gold Coast pick swap in 2017.

If the difference between the 33rd and 52nd best kid this year, and the difference between a future 2nd and future 3rd means you don't want Tim Kelly then that would be extremely poor list management.

It's not some depth player we're talking about - it's immediate first 22, immediate impact, immediate covering of what everyone on the West Coast board identified as our greatest weakness. And we don't lose any players for him.

Chris Scott wakes up with the Kelly deal done.

This is the only other thing i've really got for here but it shows we as a club are supremely confident in the young talent already on our list.

We considering we really only have Masten and Rioli' spots open. Got Cameron and Petruccelle for Rioli and now Kelly for Masten.

Really the only spot that is matchup dependant is Hutchings and Schofield. Watson being promoted gives us someone to replace Hurn or Jetta.

So you would think, with us having to double up against 3-of-the-top-6 and with the AFL's love of grudge matches, that we play the cats twice next year.

I'm not unhappy with that (albeit we can't win in Geelong, but records are made to be broken).

Try again. There is a team you all have to beat still. I don’t see the addition of Kelly taking you past us or to a premiership. Time will tell. Every game is tasty but agree playing your mob is a delicious Match.
