Go on, when did you realise there was something special about Walker?

For me it was just before he was drafted to us under the scholarship.

To be selected in this U/18 2007 All-Australian team after only playing 3 games when most of his other counterparts had played over 18 was something that really showed to me that, yeah we've got lucky here. Sorta reminded me of ' yeah just put Pav anywhere in the All-Australian team, he's that good.
:D :D

When he kicked 9 or 10 against the Eagles in his first SANFL season.

lol, I like the comment at the end ' Adelaide will consider its options with Walker before this year’s national draft in November. '

That was the AFC pretending not to get excited so the AFL wouldn't do a last minute backflip with the rule.;):p Too late now.

The stuff he did for Norwood was amazing, but plenty of young gun forwards have gone onto an AFL list and done zip afterwards.

AFL goal number 1 v Collingwood MCG, slots it from tight in the pocket 50cm gap. Not too many harder first up goals.

Goal number 3 v Freo. Picked up the loose ball dofges and weaves his way past 3 Freo players then slots it with the right on the run.

These two said that he could tear it up in the SANFL and not overawed by the move up as an 18 year old to the big show. Goal 3 is still my favourite and he has plenty. When he gets to 100 we need to have a comp on the top 10 Tex goals, going to be hard to whittle it down to 10.

Go and have another look at Stabby's goal highlights on Youtube, gold every one.

When he was kicking league goals as a 17 year old in the SANFL I was pretty excited.

Admittedly we were just coming off the Perrie-McGregor era so I would have been excited if we'd played a wheelie bin up forward too.

So you think Taylor is good because he made a team that doesn't mean shit?

Who's Cornelius? who's Joseph? who's McGinnity? who's Collier?

Heck, we took some kid from Geelong ahead of All Australian Brad Ebert.

What does this team mean?
it's just shit, and trying to take something out of it, when it's based on people so young, is a waste of time.

Answering the question - 2009, which ever of the happened first, the all-round 4 goal (1 per quarter) performance vs the Bulldogs at AAMI, or the 5 goal in the opening half vs Hawthorn at AAMI

You have a point, which I acknowledge, that is that being included in U18's AA may not mean much in the scheme of things.

But I think you derailed your point slightly by asking "who is..." for four players who are on seniors lists. There's no doubting that they are behind Taylor Walker in development, but as far as I can tell, every single one of that AA team is on a senior list.

The initial point, that Taylor made it on with only 3 games to demonstrate his worthiness for it? I reckon the OP has a point.

...and answering the question: About midway through last season, when I finally realised he was going to show consistency. Before that, I was on the "TW is lazy" team.

Always known he had terrific natural ability from his first couple of games in Crows colours "but" i am still to be convinced that he can produce it all together for more than 5 min every quarter including his efforts at chasing & accountability.

Certainly can kick a ball.

NAB Challenge game up in the Riverland against Hawthorn.

Ball is loose on the ground in the forward pocket, Taylor was surrounded by Hawthorn defenders but he picked the ball up and did an immediate look away hand pass to one of our players who was behind him. He just knew where all the other players were and what he had to do to get the ball out. It resulted in a goal for the team.

He did some other pretty impressive things that game that showed that he has this insane ability to do the freakish easily.

Gees, we could comfortably add Dangerfield and Otten into that AA side. Also Sloane while drafted in 2008, I think played in 2007 under 18 championships.

Looking at that team we've done very well - Walker, Dangerfield, Otten and Sloane would easily stand alongside those guys.

Not to be a buzz kill or anything, but youve lost me here. Teams only play 3 or 4 games at the U18 champs...not sure where you get 18 from.

When he first came to notice on here with the Rams in the 18s carnival, and in the TAC cup. It was hard not to be excited by what he was doing, and the numbers he was putting up, especially when at the time our forward line consisted of the frustratingly impotent McGregor, Perrie, and Welsh.

Although it wasn't until he came over here and started running around with the Legs that I had a good look at him, and even though his numbers in the juniors were really impressive, the raw talent on display surprised me a little bit.

Well they did say a fire hydrant could put up big numbers playing on a line with Gretzky, to a lesser extent it's true with a wheelie bin getting service from an Edwards-Roo-Macca-Goody midfield. :D

Mr Walker impressed me when he loaded an extra 15kg on last preseason... thats dedication

'ave a good weekend...and dont forget your aeroguard...

Yeah, was about to mention this Macca. :thumbsu:

That AA team was based on the U18 camps, of which each side would have only played 3 matches. From memory that year was the last year when there were the 2 divisions. Div 1 was SA, WA, Vic M and Vic C, with Div 2 being Qld, NSW/ACT, Tas and NT, with sides only playing against sides from their own division. Thus Taylor played as many matches as anyone else, the comp is structured differently now, with sides playing against everyone in their own div, plus 2 from the other div, totalling 5 matches, it is also played over a longer period of time.

From memory Walker did play 3 matches in the TAC cup as well, of which he dominated, however he didn't win AA honours because of this. There is a TAC cup team of the year I believe, however I doubt Taylor would have made this side.

To address the OP, I think when Taylor imediately stepped up to play dominant senior SANFL footy in his first year as a 17 year old stick figure, finishing with over 50 goals.

:D:thumbsu: Classic! Added bonus -> Tex is MUCH cuter than a wheelie bin!
