I must admit, that was one hell of a hit from Amon on young Clarke.

But he'll be snubbed out for the rest of the year IMO.

2-3 weeks (2 if the MRP decide if the hit was reckless, 3 if they decide it was intentional) and some carry over point for "1 AFL year" thanks to his clean record and an early guilty plea.

Basically 3 weeks is the most he can get without the hit being refered directly to the Tribunal (again because of his clean record to get 25% off the points and the fact he'll plea guilty to get another 25% off his points), which clearly WON'T happen. So predictions of 4 weeks or more are grossly way off the mark without looking at the Tribunal Rules and guidelines.

Depending on how many demerit points he has hanging over his head from his last suspension Rocca "MIGHT" get as many weeks as Buchanan or even longer (if Buchanan gets 2 weeks) depending on how the MRP grade the strike.

Wow that is wrong clearly. He left the ground and hit a player front on high with forceful contact after the play had moved on when he had more than one option. And since the Bell incident the tribunal is showing no tolerance for that type of contact. They'll throw the book at him.

be surprised if he got much change out of 4 weeks from that hit, back in the old days it wouldn't even make the tribunal, now, well its anybodies guess as to the result.

He has a bit of a temper our Amon. He must learn from this and not let his frustration get the better of him. When he was dropped and playing in the reserves, there were a couple of petulant acts that did not impress me.

gotta get two at least, and 3-4 is probly fair enough....clearly late and he left the ground to do it.....cheap shot, very disappointing, deserves what he gets
at least schmidt should be back in the team

Wow that is wrong clearly.

How is that wrong??? If Johnson was given the option to plea guilty last week for his bump which the AFL view as the far more dangerous and give far more demerit points for, then why wouldn't Buchanan be given the same chance to plead guilty to what the AFL considers a "lesser" report.

So therefore you clearly a) don't know the reporting and tribunal rules or haven't bothered to look them up, b) don't see the differences between the bump Buchanan made and Johnson made and c) don't understand the fact Johnson had demerit points hanging over his head where Buchanan doesn't, which will help Buchanan out.

He left the ground and hit a player front on high with forceful contact after the play had moved on when he had more than one option.

Guess what, its still considered a lesser charge to that of Johnsons regardless of what you have just stated

And since the Bell incident the tribunal is showing no tolerance for that type of contact.

This would be the second type of "head high contact" since Bell and the first one was Roe of Brisbane who got a week and was yet again completely different to the Johnson bump and Roe was also like Buchanan a "cleanskin". I don't call the AFL handing out a suspension "BY THE BOOK" when the player has a clean record in Roe's case or a bad one in Johnson case "no tolerance", I call it football fan's having "NO IDEA"

They'll throw the book at him.

In what way?? I've already shown what he'll get thanks to his clean record and an early guilty plea either 2 or 3 weeks depending on the Grading Level given (4 or 5).

Because clearly Roe hit another player low whilst going for the football it was totally different from leaping off the ground at a guy who has just kicked the ball. Frankly Amon's decision was extremely reckless and the tribunal hopefully is going to send a message to all cleanskins that being stupid gets you a long holiday.

Pretty dumb act by a pretty dumb footballer.

Works very hard to get the footy, no one can deny him that, but still hasn't worked out that when he is kicking or handballing the opposition is the team with a different coloured jumper.

and gets caught with the ball too often.....i thought he'd gotten rid of this trait but seems not

If you think it was reckless then all Buchanan will get is 2 weeks. You just dug your own hole right there. The MRP can't "add" on weeks for being stupid.

Thanks for that:thumbsu:

Deserves to be rubbed out it was a very stupid thing to do.

Not least of all with the game still in the balance to get a down field free kick and give Collingwood the opportunity to set up a goal was poor from a tem perspective and the hit was just not called for.

Aamon has to put up his hand and not try to weasel out of it like Johnson did to his credit last week.

Yes, he's in trouble, but I don't think anyone can compare it with Johnson's or Roe's.
Totally different incidents.
IMO the ones you compare with are L. Power on C. Bolton last week (no charge) and A. Rocca on S. Dempster at Stade Oz in round 12 (two weeks).
I think he'll probably get two, but could get three because it was so late.

However, A. Rocca's cheap shot on A. Goodes is another issue because of the above mentioned hit which gives him a 2007 record. I'd be surprised if he didn't get at least another couple or three.
But considering the armchair ride the Pies got last night, it probably won't even be looked at.

What a massive hit Amon put on Poor Marty Clarke (welcome to footy) I do think that he will be in a bit of trouble for that, hard to say what he'll get with the tribunal this year? Maybe 4 weeks?? then again he might get nothing who knows?

I must say, didn't Andrew McLeod do the same thing a few years back charged a player and also lifted himself off the ground and got off? I can remember the incident but I can't remember the opposing player. Can someone else help out with that? When I saw Buchanan's hit, that McLeod incident came to me.

Having said that, Buchanan would probably get 4 weeks but with a good record he'll get an offer to get it reduced to 3. He'll hopefully cop it on the chin and return a better player for it. It was a very stupid thing to do.

Also, how many weeks do you think Rocca should get? I reckon he'll get at least 2 weeks.

did anyone notice ROK's reaction to Amons hit. ROK was standing right there next to Matty Clarke, and when he got hit, ROK put his hands up in the air as if to say, "what the... did you do that for!"

Erm, has anybody watched it again?

R'OK pushed Clarke in the back right before contact was made, no doubt it affected the contact.
