Andrew Jarman interviewed on 5AA tonight said he was coming back to Adelaide, would make a fairly good skills and goalkicking coach.
Not a senior coach as his results are not good there (although he got NA to a GF ?? confirm please) but he mentioned he has a desire to return to AFL ranks as talent ID or skills, as he currently laments the skills of the current day AFL player, not the elite but the second & third teir and the rookies coming through.
I hope he gets a look in.

his senior record is as good as craigy's before he got the top job.

we all know craig has been a pretty good coach, so that alone shouldn't disqualify him

Thought he was doing well at North Adelaide, got the impression it was not on field performance that led them to part ways. Was a surprise to me. Not sure how he went in WA, but would think he would have something to offer.

I'd be all for jars as a skills coach and part of the development team. I remember him once saying he comes from the school of 'good skills win matches'.

I would like the crows to put every player through skills coaching/refining particularly goal kicking. However I think due to time restraints (as we here with training), I think there is an opportunity to put the first year players through a more intensive skills training program. When a fresh group of players get drafted to the crows now, their 1st preseason is no where near as solid and intense as the rest of the squad due to over training. I think this would be a perfect opportunity to put these players through a skills program because they have a put more time.

Someone like Jars can work with them to quickly try and iron out any deficiencies with their technique and teach them new things. Plus they probably have more time to practise with repetition.

Then for the older players Jars can do goal kicking practise and if NC or any of the assistants or development coaches notice any problems with a players technique or mental application they can send him back to jars for a bit of practise and refinement.

He also brings some flair.

I seriously like the fact that Jars has been away from the club for an extended period, senior coached in both the SANFL and WAFL which would no doubt have been a great learning platform for him, would no doubt bring some flair and footy smarts to our coaching panel, something I think we sadly lack at the moment. I would be all for Jars replacing Noble at seasons end and getting a full preseason to work on the skill deficiencies of our list!!! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

He was the first target for Blighty to get rid of on arrival at Crows as bad influence . Why would Crows have him back .
His record over in WA worse than here with North .
Why get another yes man with nothing to offer as any sort of coach .
We need to prune our jobs for the boys not add to it ,
I am sure he can be the Aker on radio or something in SA but not in our club

So the club dumped him almost 15 years ago, yet you go on to call him one of the "boys"?
He's a bad influence, but somehow also a "yes man"?
His record at North was actually pretty good, particularly compared to what they've achieved since.
He's been a senior coach in the SANFL and WAFL (FAR more experience than some others on our current coaching panel,) yet has "nothing to offer"

comparing andrew jarman to aker is just plain idiotic!

I note Chris McDermott, Tony McGuinness and Greg Anderson were "moved on" also, were they "bad influences" too???

Wouldn't perhaps have been age or form related??

Blighty's coaching record with the Saints 3 Wins 12 Losses then DUMPED by that club, did that make him a bad coach then????

Sorry like many I know that Blighty wanted Jarman out for reasons mentioned and for many midemenours including refusing to play etc etc .
Comparing him to Aker is both like to make headlines and well and truly out worn welcome in WA .
Still not need to argue case as not going to be a problem as wont get back in crows believe me or not

Jarman writes an article in the Sunday Times over here

He is always trying to be "controversial" with what he writes, but a lot of it comes out sounding bitter

A few weeks back, he mentioned that Tippett needed to stop playing for free kicks! WTF. He gets mugged every week. Not sure if he actually watches Crows games

Plus his team has only won 2 games all year.

No for head coach, yes for an assistant role, as i reckon he might stir things up a bit

Jars is a one way coach, don't ask him about any defensive aspects to the game.

He would be great as a skills coach. I like when he asked Cornsey and Rowey who were the top 3 most skilled players at the Crows club. They struggled to name any...Cornesy mentioned Richard Douglas...oh please!

Yeah, I heard that.

For mine, it's still Simon Goodwin and Andrew McLeod - and that's a worry.

Taylor Walker is a great kick on both sides too.

Andrew and Darren had a series of clinic set up for promising juniors to work on basic skills. Not sure what happened to that but it worked. Hartlett, Gibbs and Trengove all went through it.

What I dont understand is why Darren is part of the coterie group, but not helping our guys work on techniques.

Heard the Jars interview and agree 100% that many AFL footballers lack basic skills. To many athletes and not enough skilled footballers at AFL level.

The other positive with Jars returning to Adelaide next year mean Stefan will be playing back in SA. As he is a possible FS pick we will be able to follow his progress better.

Both Andrew and a currently obese Darren Jarman would easily counter for any Crows player in any sort of skills contest.

The best thing about the Jarman brothers was you couldn't tell if they were left or right footers. I dont think I've seen two players who were more adept on their opposite sides as those two.
