Geez, there must be a few of us with pets named after players. My sister's cat is named 'junior' :(

Always wish for the players sake that they'd get their milestone games at KP, or at least in Vic. Sure they don't mind though.
My dog Harry Taylor loves his Geelong jumper. Worried we were going to have to put him down if Harry had moved to Fremantle ;)

Mack is a gun, and I feel a real team barometer.

Favourite moment was definitely when he slapped the taping on his arm for Bobby Davis.

Favourite sledge was asking whether they got four points for beating North Melbourne.

I really love watching Mackie play, I genuinely think he is under-rated even amoung Cat fans, personally I think he is a super star of a super star era.
As others have mentioned his last 3 seasons have been absolutely top shelf.
I remember in 06 when the Cats turned him from a flaky forward into a backman, was one of the highlights of that dreadful year and he never looked back.
Along with Enright would be one of our Greatest half back flankers.
I'd back him to have a cracker this weekend.

Someone should make a list of clever sledges- to be updated whenever a new one is revealed. Some of Mackie's have been very clever, apparently- also Johnson's

Johnno's best, that I'm aware of, when playing GWS "Mate I've played in more premierships than you have games."

I'd forgotten that one from Stevie J- yes, very very good! (but a bit cocky- like some of his others referring to the Stevie J show, or whatever)
A player once called to a trainer to 'bring me a copy of the record so I can see who this kid is who's playing on me'. May not have been one of our players though, can't remember:confused:

Was it Mackie or Stevie J who, during a game against North when we were smashing them, turned to Scarlo and said "Do we only get 2 points for beating this mob?"

Have been reading up on Mackie's sledges and this one does come up as one of his!

I believe the exact quote is "They shouldn’t give us four points for today’s win. They should only give us two because North are that shit." He said it right in front of Norf skipper Simpson :D Asking Raines what TAFE course he'd be doing next year was also pretty good.

Stevie J's best was the "cash or credit" line.

That was for the Stevie J show, I assume.
Bob Murphy wrote an article about SJ one day- which I thought was quite funny. Remember when SJ came off the bench and hid over near the point post then jumped into play without an opponent? (I think he's done it a couple of times but it hasn't always come off)
Bob has a couple of SJ's witty remarks in his article here:

Saw it years ago attributed to Carey.
But I reckon it may have been old even then.
Russell Crowe probably said it in the Colosseum.

Great story, a genuine draft smokey to 3-time premiership player and all-Australian.

And he's getting better late in his career.

Can remember him before a training session in his first pre-season slotting goals for fun from impossible angles and thinking this skinny, cocky kid could be something special.

Wouldn't mind seeing him go forward for a spell before his time is up.

Best sporting sledge I ever heard was attributed to Sir Viv Richards. He was playing a tour match against an English county side and played and missed at a few balls when the bowler goes "Can't you see it old man? It's round and red!" Next ball Viv dances down the pitch and smacks the ball over the bowler's head and out of the ground for six. He trots down the pitch and says to the bowler "You know what it looks like, now go and find it!"

Yeah, cricket seems to produce by far the most and the best of any sport, there are whole books full of them. Probably because there is far more time available for interaction between the players, and probably also because it is played in a more relaxed atmosphere where there is far less likelihood of a physical payback, either then or later. ;)

Mack's been one of the biggest improvers under Scott and he and Selwood will probably be the last of our triple premiership players left in 3 or 4 years. Or quadruple premiership players if all goes well. ;)
Corey Enright says "hi".

I've got a tip-rat called Milne.

Congratulations to Mackie. A great achievement (there were a few times I wasn't sure he'd get there).

Hopefully we can chalk up another win in a milestone match. :thumbsu:
