One player who has taken time to play good footy in the AFL, but it looks like he's finally ready. Has had an excellent start to the season, and has collected 20+ possesions on two ocassions this year. The last time he had a 20+ posession game was in his debut game, round 5, 2004.

Has been a shining light for us this year, in a season that hasn't been great thus far, and finally looks to be showing why he was chosen number 2 in the 2003 draft. Things are looking good for Walker, and I can't wait to see his continued development and improvement throughout 2006:D

Do people think Walker could develop into a gun CHB?

I've seen worse....

Not quite big enough to play on players like Hall, Tredrae, Brown and the likes but can certainly play on players of Croads size as shown last night. Great game from Walker his best so far.:thumbsu:

That attempt last night was a brain explosion though.

Should've cost us a goal.

F Watts was doing well in U18's and Walker was moved onto him and beat him

Walker could turn into a Croad player PLUS go into the midfield. Both have the athletic ability but Walker can also get the ball now ;)

Can't wait to see him in the middle

R: Leunberger Walker Murphy:cool:

It was great to see him come to Lappin's defence before the game started when Brown was trying to get to Lappin's shoulder. He is certainly starting to demonstrate some hardness, something that is sadly lacking at Carlton. To see him play well on a KPP in Croad, after his efforts on the likes of Aker, McLeod and even G Ablett jnr in the NAB Cup, really shows great versatility. Ultimately, though, I still see him being our general in the midfield in a couple of years time.

Looking better and better, but his disposal is terrible - a problem compounded by his running role

Only one clanger from his 21 possessions last night.

Clangers aren't the only sign of poor disposal though. Good kicks travel low and flat out in front of a running player. He tends to get under them too much, which means he just sets it up for defenders to punch. His kicks aren't clangers, but they force a contest where it should be a simple uncontested mark. This wouldn't be a problem (plenty of others in the league, and particularly at Carlton, do the same), but his athleticism means he's often the link man. Hawthorn (Crawford and Hodge particularly) showed us the value of running midfielders who can kick. If Walker can develop this skill he could be a very, very good footballer - at the moment he's just average

Good running player, I'm impressed by him this season. He has done his job in all games and probably a little more.

he has the attributes (except for the size) to be just that. however if we do that it would be like robbing peter to pay paul...he is best suited to a midfield/running defender role which is where i think he should and will stay.

saw the bullants game today and i reckon bower is going to be a real gem. looked great dashing out of the backline and delivering to the midfielders and forwards. thats just what we need at carlton. a tall defender who is big enough to take on the gorrilla forwards of the comp as well as worry them in transition to offense. has a big frame and once he really fills out (waita few years- we need to be prepared to be patient with the kid)nhe will be huge. my only concern is with that increase in weight will he lose some of that pace and run?
