haha...I know, right? It goes without saying that we're going to have a lot of these people in most cheer squads. They are the bay of the hardcore; dignity is replaced with fiery passion, and those mildly - nay, meagre - reserved during weekdays become the obsessed - nay, consumed - from Friday on.

Put them together and what have you got? No, not bippity, boppity boo, but rather a melting pot that, once translated outside of the arena, looks rather...you get the idea.

Anyway, Robbo made a good point in an article today about the bloke up front at most games.

"... I don't dislike Channel 7's work like others do, but why do they continually go to that Collingwood clown mouthing Fs and Cs? Seriously, what's the point in that?

"Said clown often features when the Magpies play, and often the camera shot is fully focussed on him when he's frothing and screaming and clenching his fist. He swears so much, you'd think he doesn't like the game."

I have to be honest - I agree with him. This guy is wonderfully passionate, but the spray is amazingly ill-considered and while I love the one-eyed love he has for our team, I just think toning it down to be more Fs for 'flips' and Cs for 'chocolates' would be a better choice of words. It's really disappointing that there's no thought for the people around him when he decides to blast the umpires, opposition players, and so on.

Yes, there are supporters everywhere that do that, and Seven could just air some shots of a hot supporter like Miranda Kerr saying 'Oh, phooey.' (seriously, we have her, and Carlton has Gale...we win that one hands down), but it doesn't make it any better.

Maybe it's just the new-to-being-a-dad in me.

I also realise that my thread title is a meme waiting to happen.

I never get tired of the camera focusing in on Geelong coach when we are winning....:D

He really should be setting an example for the average punter...no?

F this and F that, F'ing all the F'ups Fing brat.........
Cats don't need a coach that swears like that.
I don't wan no coach that swears like that............

I'm more of a Meghan Gale man myself

And a big congrats on being a new dad - good to see those doing their bit for the sustainability of the magpie army :thumbsu:

I agree with your sentiment. Over the years I have been to games I have found that the most passionate (and funny and entertaining) supporters are those who can nail a flame without resorting to the 'c' or 'f' bomb.

Thanks, and she's already a member!

I also think that the funnier ones are those that can keep the vocabulary in control. I completely understand the intensity can get people caught up in the moment, but it's not too hard to keep it in check.

I'm usually one of these ppl that would answer something like this with "We should all act like we're at a tea party should we?!"

But I full agree with you on this one. I find this guy really embarrassing and I wish ch7 and fox footy would stop focusing on him (it's an agenda I swear).
Tone it down a little buddy. :p

Seriously.... Who is that knob!?
Cringe every time I see him....... Ed, get him out of there!!

Look I agree that its a bad look but what is the real issue here?

Seriously. . .

Channel 7 obviously have an agenda here - its a bad look because its being focused on by 7 for some cheap sensationalism.

That has more to do with the fact that they're the ones playing the game, wouldn't you think?

You're right, but it's 7 that chooses to focus on him.

I swear my ass off at the footy. Instinctual now because I've been doing it for so long now that it's a surprisingly hard habit to break.

I can only imagine how hard it would be for others.

I'm far from a wowser, but this guy is a serial pill and an embarassment. Remember watching him get marched out with his two kids in tow about 3-4 years ago after belting his beer off the fence out on the field after a shitty decision went against us. Have also seen him hanging over the fence squawking almost unintelligible abuse at the goal umpire after the central maggot has done something stupid. He's actually not bad in terms of entertainment value but looks seriously imbalanced and a tad munted.

Yep, cringeworthy. I vocalise but these days I go to the footy with my kids. I no longer swear and it is politically incorrect to question the umpires sexuality. Modern times...

For every feral like him there would be N supporters who are relatively composed. Who does channel 7 focus on? This is a clear choice that they make to broadcast images of him. That's how they want to promote footy?

It's not promoting footy, its a smarmy cheap shot at the pies.

Every club has their fruit-cakes. Look at any Cheer Squad.

Your club should piss take the Channel and put him in a jumper or hat etc, bagging the Channel and they will never cross over to him.

Give him a sign saying, 'Channel 7 are knobs'.

Problem solved.
Cheers
;)

(Only here to see how Swanny was going)

To be fair they do show knob supporters from all teams. Often see bogan overaction from knobs from teams such as Essendon and Carlton... as it turns out we just so happen to have the biggest knob.

Swans matches usually focus on two old ducks knitting scarves.
