Another delay for Welsh

Crows forward Scott Welsh has had another setback with a quad injury.

Welsh, who returned to the field last Friday night after missing three weeks with a quad strain, hurt the same leg while training on Tuesday.

"It is only a minor injury but he will miss at least one game at this stage," said Crows fitness coach Stephen Schwerdt.

Welsh kicked nine goals for Woodville-West Torrens reserves in the SANFL last weekend.

It's not looking like he will play this year...

Add him to the Mark Stevens pile. :thumbsd:

:D

Seriously though, under the Neil Craig philosophy as applied to Begley, unsound body meant goodbye.

Weshy must be starting to wear his welcomes out - he can't have too many left now. It'd be sad to see, but if you can't get on the field you're not much value.

See example: a; Wayne Carey and b; Mark Stevens
He has alwas been unconsistant on the injury front. Having OP, and many other niggling injuries. Has he ever played out a full season for us?

however his chances of staying on the list is high...how come? He's one of the only "natural" forwards we have. :thumbsd:

me fail english? thats unpossible.....:D

I can't see him staying on the list. We now have a replacement at FF in Roo, why not delist him and use that for one of the kids in the "superdraft"

He's no use to us if every time he is about to come back he gets another niggle. Lets get a KPP to develop.....

Here are the number of games Welsh has played each season since being traded to Adelaide. Total number of H&A and finals games played by Adelaide that year are in brackets).

2000: 22 (22)
2001: 18 (23)
2002: 13 (25)
2003: 10 (24)
2004: 16 (22)
2005: 23 (25)
2006: 0 (12)

That's a total of 102 from a possible 153 games. In other words, he played exactly 2/3 of the total possible games since his arrival at the club.

You'd give him another year surely.

I said a couple of weeks ago if they miss much more of this year either of Welsh or Thorney could be smokeys for delisting. But I would be very surpised if either was delisted. Both deserve another year. However if they have another injury plagued year in 07 they could be in trouble.

I don't disagree particularly if they continue to break down...Tourney more likely to be encouraged to retire....Welsh won't be delisted, may be traded though???

Cant see another club offering anything decent for an injury prone, yet much talented, 28 year old medium forward.
