I played Ammos in the 80s
This time I think (Hope) I'm in the right place.

I am currently drawing all the SA State game jumpers.
Here are the most recent ones.

Does anyone have any of these, or decent pics of them, to compare with these versions?

Thanks in advance

Mero

Never seen that stripey one before. What a shocker.

You regularly see it on Fox Footy Flashbacks when they show highlights of early SOO games - Platten looked ridiculous at the best of times, but in that striped guernsey? Chrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrist!!

I saw at least one match where we played in the striped jumper. I just wish we'd had one with some "heritage" that we'd stuck with like the "Big V" has.

I could be wrong, but I thought the change from the red jumper with the V's to the white one with the vertical stripes was to reflect the change from "state" footy to "state of origin" footy around then.

If that is correct, gee, what a cracking decision.

Exchange one of the best looking guernseys around for that abomination - what the hell was the white for?!

I thought it was because Neil Kerley went mad! ;)
Seriously you may be right about that. But Kerley had a habit of changing jumpers with clubs he was invovled with (think Torrens and West (2nd time)) and I always thought he was the brains behind the new state jumpers.
Looked bloody awful then and still looks bloody awful!

Yes, you're right, 1979 was the first State of Origin game between SA and Vic.
Excellent get.

I think the width of the white panel had as much to do with my template and the width of that particular player. The Blue started from halfway going right, and the Red is definitely on the top of the left shoulder.

Well he wasn't built like a goal post :p

True, but even though he did play for the "old enemy"(evil Glenelg) I have to say he is truly one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to meet.
