ADELAIDE captain Mark Ricciuto may be the biggest of four key Crows inclusions for their Telstra Dome meeting with Carlton on Saturday.
Though it is only a week since he suffered back soreness, the latest in a long line of mishaps stretching back to the 2006 pre-season, Ricciuto put on a convincing display at the club's main training session.
Brent Reilly, Graham Johncock and Jason Porplyzia all appear likely to filter back into the 22 ahead of the likes of Brett Burton, who is urgently in need of rest for his battered knees.
Young ballwinner Richard Douglas would also appear to be under an injury cloud after exiting the session early with hamstring tightness, while fringe players Bernie Vince and Luke Jericho could be dropped to make way for the aforementioned names.
Joined by his aboriginal colleagues Graham Johncock and Jon Griffin to talk about the AFL's indigenous heritage round, Andrew McLeod said he was not surprised to see Ricciuto in such fine fettle only a week after a tender back kept him from the track.
"I think everyone would like to see Roo play and I'm no exception, you love to have your captain out there playing for what he is, a very important part of our side," he said.
"Not surprised on the way he trained, I thought he trained well out there and looked sharp and really good. It's not my decision, but I'd play him."
Much like last week, prior to a narrow tussle with Richmond, most are expecting the Crows to run roughshod over the Blues.
McLeod pointed out that Denis Pagan's side had been able to score goals with far more freedom this year than an occasionally constricted Adelaide.
"We know Carlton are a pretty good side, we think they average 15 or 16 goals a game, probably more than we have as a side," he said.
"They've played in a lot of shootouts, and we'll know it'll be game-on for us."
If included, Johncock will play his first game since wrenching his ankle against the Western Bulldogs in round two, and said he was keen to get back.
"Felt good out there today so raring to go and it just depends on where I'll play, back at the (SANFL) Magpies or here, looking forward to it," he said.
"Over the last six weeks I've put in a lot of hard work, and definitely feel if I was to come straight back in I'd play my role."
