just thinking about this trade as a real possibility:

- our first round pick(pick 9) + lance whitnal..for...

- stuart dew + steven salopek

i think this tade is a good possibility as port adelaide is an ageing side therefore they can geta key position who is 25 and a quality draft pick...they give up a player who will be looking to come home and another player in stuart dew who wants out... i like this deal

id def look at salopek .... havent seen much of him but he's had big raps, was touted as top 3 pick, port picked him up round 7 i think?

we could prolly use our pick 9 for him ... i would be stoked with that.

id use whitnall to snare a ruckman, hopefully one who hasn't had a bad run with injuries.

as for dew i wouldn't offer that much to get him .. he's injury prone and not a spring chicken ne more (ie not young).

perhaps swap dew with Toby Thurstans then i'd think harder about it.

i'd feel like we are giving to much, plus why on gods green earth would port want Whitnall?

eyy kooley ya moron who has no idea, the trade is a good option salopek will walk into our midfield as he has sublime skills and dew will kivk those long goals to get the crowd pumping...so this trade is good...the reason thye would like whitnal is another key position player who will juust help out...think wisely bout this trade!!!!!!!!!

Salopek is a huge talent but the word is he has come down with chronic fatigue syndrome and would be a risky get. However this may be a ruse out of Port Adelaide to frighten off potential suitors.

Think wisely yourself goose. You're giving up a first round pick AND Whitnall for Salopek and a lazy, fat tree-trunk FP?

What the heck do you think you're on?

Whitnall for both of them I could perhaps stomach, but to offer our first round pick as well....why don't you think you doofus.

ey blueprez if y ahad eny idea buddy of the upcoming draft u would agree wit me...the talent is ********...i think u should tune into the drafting system a bit better before ya comment...the drft is the worst ever...dont expect eny andrew alkers coz dere rnt eny available for us...expect ronnie delulio types.

Be careful who you are calling a moron buddy!

What you are saying is that we should swap Whitnall(fat) for Dew(fat) and Our Number 9(unknown) pick for Salopek who has done ******** all yet. Doesn't really make sense to me but you're obviously in the know so enjoy the thought.

I'm very much aware of the talent in the draft. Perhaps you need to realise that most of the talent is interstate, and not in Victoria this year. But you want to give up pick 9 and Whitnall for Salopek and Dew...

Only David Parkin would do that, your idea borders on the insane. No, it is insane actually.

well mate ya just answered ya own question...the talent is in S.A therefore we can give em pick 9 which eans theyw ill get a S>A draftee...we get salopek who is from melbourne, fantastic footballer and we give whitnal for dew it all works out if u think about it...ey kooley ya got no idea so stay out of these posts!!!!

agree but pick 9 for salapek isnt a bad idea ... so long as he doesn't have cronich fatigue like was reported.

then trade lance to freo with say simon wiggons for j.longmuir, t.longmuir and dion woods (i reckon he's the dashing defender we may need)?

it.......ey ey ya ya ey ya ya ye naa ya

Interesting post chaps ,but to think Whitnall will generate any interest from a club that has Tredrea / Lade / Thurstans and eventually Cornes back to CHF is a bit pointless. If you could convince them that there is a benefit to them it and throw in pick 9 you might be a winner but to think Whitnall equates to Dew and Salopek without the pick nine is ...to quote the classic 'forget about it!!!Dew's start has fallen a little this year but Williams Iam sure holds him in high regards and no doubt the guy can play, as for Salopek, glandular fever aside, he will be a star. I hope Collingwood move on him but after last year's Stevens debacle dont think Port would trde with us.

Go_Blueboyz dosnt seem to have any control of the english language let alone the fact the a KPP in Whitnall is worth more than Dew and all we should give for Salopek is the draft pick, meaning Port win in this trade which is why it is getting canned.

exactly Abers. If Salopek is that good Port wouldn't want to give him away. If they do want to get rid of him then there is something wrong with him.

Whitnall for Dew is just plain stupid. And Blueboyz when you put up a crap post expect people to can it. it......ya ya yaz or whatever you say......

Ah Kooley an Abers, the two blokes who have no F****N Idea. Don't you realise that Salopek (Pick 6 2002) who has done his apprenticeship would be far better off than a Pick 9 in an extremely weak draft, Whitnall is better than dew therefore the whole deal works out.... So you's two just give up your F*****N useless!!!!!!!!!

Weak? I heard the draft was extremely strong this year... and who is to say that you cannot pick good youngster under pick #10. You look at all the good players in the league, most of them were not picked in the top 10, weak draft or not. You can still get quality if you draft smartly.

Rather have pick 9 and Whitnall than Dew - are you crazy? What are you hoping to get out of Dew? And how do you know for sure Salopek will be worth it?

We have enough midfielders - what we need are some players who can hold CHB/FB, a ruckman and a CHF who have big bodies. And are talented. Just need to look that extra bit harder.

Unless you're looking for old guys, we've got nothing you need. And we don't particularly need Whitnall, or pick 9 in a draft that apparently drops after the top 5. So its all good.

Thrawn,

How do we have enough midfielders? Our best midfielders are near the end of their careers.

If you look at most games this year, we got smashed in the midfield.

We were lucky that Adelaide didnt kick straight in that first qtr. We had 31 possessions for the first qtr.

We still need more quality midfielders. Kouta and Campo won't be elite midfielders when we're challenging again

We not only need a CHF, we need more ball winners.

You're a tool GoBlueboyzzz or whatever your name is. You're so insignificant that you need to post utter tripe in order to try to gain respect, and trust me you're failing.

You're giving up far too much. Just because the talent is in SA, oh, let's just give Port a pick so that they can pick one of them up

The purpose of trade week is to improve the list, not stuff it up...tool.

Thrawn, our midfield needs an overhaul and the time to start is now because Kouta is 31, although contracted to play 2 more years, who knows whether he will be able to keep playing. Look at Buckley at the age of 32...Camporeale likewise, is 29, will be 30 by end of August next year.

The time to get a good midfield is now before we start to no-one to get the ball for us. The number of times we got flogged by opposition teams this year in the midfield was too many. Pagan emphasised that beyond anything else, if you look at the B&F results, it's obvious that the defence did their job; Teague, Lappin and Thornton all top 6.

we need to target cameron bruce ... he's 24 and a gun midfielder.

Some of you are living in an absolute fantasy world.

Salopek is worth more than pick #9, Dew is worth more than Whitnall.

Pick #9 and Whitnall for Salopek would possibly be an even trade but I doubt Port would be that interested in picking up Whitnall anyway.

Whitnall is worth far more to Carlton than he is to anyone else, you'd be lucky to get a late 2nd round pick for him, the guy is on the scrap heap.
