Re: Anthony Corrie

out of curiosity, do many of you think his Round 1 performance was good enough to hold others at bay?

I didn't see the game, just listened, so didn't get a brilliant picture of how he was going.

Re: Anthony Corrie

I don't see Corrie as someone under the pump at selection, his ability to carry and break lines is quite rare in our side, he didn't have a great game but he wasn't alone, his best was exhilirating and with a bit of polish he may have really hurt the eagles, he will only contribute more as time goes on.

Re: Anthony Corrie

If a couple of those streaking Corrie runs up the corridor were finished with goals, we'd be singing his praises as a potential gamebreaker.

His 4th quarter performance a few years ago that dragged us over the line in a thriller against Essendon still stands out clearly in my mind.

He's only played 3 senior games since doing his knee... just needs some time to put it all together.

I hope we keep playing him.

As much as any of our players, he suits the style of footy played currently. Worth persisting with for 3 or 4 games.

Yep, spot on. He really should have kicked two, and that would have been a fair chunk of the midfield goals we needed -- quite possibly turned the result.

if corrie, black and lappin kicked those goals, the game would have been different. we showed we can get the shots on goal, and twice corrie had a good run. he is also a decent defender and should be well and truly safe. adcock went down in the first and we played with a 3 man bench for 3 qtrs. bushy also injuried his ankle in the first i think and could miss this week which is why he prob had a quiet one. we did well considering. with corrie back there i think it helps to free up drummond a lil bit too.

Re: Anthony Corrie

Book more players in for knee recos please. They come back even better!

Nux put his head over the ball and took the hit in several crucial stages last night. What a little star.

Re: Anthony Corrie

As someone who misses a lot of those little things that you guys seem to notice, I thought Corrie was fantastic......more games, more improvement IMO....he seemed to be trying his heart out last night......I just figure if I noticed, he must have played well.....well done to Anthony...

Re: Anthony Corrie

The 2002 'weak' draft is looking pretty good for us, with Brennan, Selwood, Merrett and Corrie. And of course JMac from the rookie list.

Re: Anthony Corrie

I'm with you MacMum, i though Anthony was excellent last night - no-one could question his committment and attitude last night and i was not one who was overly critical of his game agaisnt the Eagles.

Re: Anthony Corrie

Always a big fan - time to get more value from possessions. Suggest he get out the Andrew McLeod tapes and study hard- and hurt on the scoreboard.

Re: Anthony Corrie

The more Corrie plays the better he will get, he is one of our blokes building, we have to remember that these guys have talent in spades but have been literally stuck to a sinking ship for 3 years, i think he now realises that he belongs at AFL level!

he was one player who really showed belief near the end of the game that they could come back and steal it. when he kicked his second his face lit up and you could see he just knew they could do it. really sparked the team. brave effort and was rewarded for it.

on a side note, our attack on the ball was brilliant, our players did everything they could to get the pill, didn't always get rid of it or keep possession, but just to see the commitment from the players in those conditions to throw themselves at the ball was great, and corrie was definitely one of those.

Re: Anthony Corrie

If I was a selector I probably wouldn't have stuck with him, but he came up with a few big plays in the last quarter. A lot of brownie points there for standing up when it mattered.

Corrie had the Most inside 50's (10 - 3 more than Jed) 3rd most contested possessions (10, behind Power 11 and Black 15) and the 2nd most clearances (5 - Black with 10). Also had 2 goal assists, 1 behind TJ

He's a vital ingredient in this side.

Re: Anthony Corrie

His shepherding was fantastic tonight and he chased often 3 and 4 times in one play. He is someone that we can expect to see continued output from.

Plays with heart.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Re: Anthony Corrie

Has the skills to pay the bills and is adding the contested stuff to his game.

Still can drift out of the game too easily. If he can become more consistent he will be an extremely damaging player.

he will only improve this with more game time. can sometime lack some confidence and not back himself, but again, he will fix this with more games under the belt. automatic selection til further notice.
