Well trade week would have just finished in melbourne and i was wondering if we actually made any trades?

If so, who was traded and what for?

Disappointing. I know it's important to keep a 'stable' list and everything, but I look forward to trade week anually hoping to pick up a few players that can be useful to our cause. We didn't even trade Haynes which surprised me, I thought he was gone to Geelong.

MOST BORING TRADE WEEK EVER!

whoawh! big movers we are. (sorry for the sarcasm, just a bit disappointed with the weeks outcome)

somewhat silly if you ask me. now instead of having a 75% chance of getting a dud with the pick 42, we have just decreased it to a 40% chance of the player being a dud with the pick 20.

Especially on top of the fact that we know that Haynes can be handy in his own right and is still young.

Is there a possibility for the clubs, say 8 clubs, to ask for an extension. It seems that there are still more trades popping up, and its well past 2.00pm, hence the reason for my question.

I know that in the past that got knocked back but this is because there was only two clubs asking. This time I sense that there Hawks, Kangaroos, WB, WCE, Geelong, Freo, Carlton, Port, Collingwood that could all benefit from an extension.

No possibility. In fact the dockers had traded for Heath Black but it was knocked back by the AFL because it was after 2pm EST.

Unless Haynes asked to be traded back thats a waste. Pick 20 in this years draft is unlikely to be anything special, and to trade 42 also(ok, so even LESS likely to be good) with Haynes, whos shown he has talent this season, just a waste IMO. Geelong wouldnt have accepted anything less, just not sure how useful it is to us.

Dissapointed.

PS Whats this mean with Hansen???

Bad luck I guess....

Anyway it was really a nothing trade week for us...

big winners from what I can tell are Essendon and Carlton...

Carlton especially is a big suprise considering how little they had to work with.

Cheers

Haynes wanted out.

Pick 20 should hopefully see us pick up Callum Burges or Johnson from Perth. Depending on who gets taken in the first round we might find a player like Mark Seaby, Staker or Selwood who were picked after 20 so our chances are better than pick 42.

We would probably offer Hansen a bit more to stay or cut him loose.

That's a shame, I liked Haynes. Oh well, he's a lot closer to the parents now.

Best of luck David.

Not being facetious, but what did you like about him?

Can't comment on him personally, but I always thought he was a fairly average footballer.

Meh... Not exactly overjoyed. Sounds as though we just did that deal for the sake of having some involement, in a similar vein to the williams/adkins deal last year.

We subtract a player in our best 22, and add a pick which is not quite good enough to get us an AFL ready player. Really, chances are we'll draft a younger version of a player like Haynes, who takes 2-3 years of development before they're ready. Unless we have someone specific in mind for this pick, it seems an utterly pointless deal, and one I dare say we lost out on slightly unless the powers that be know something about Haynes that we don't.

Ah well, happy for his sake that we could send him home, and in Woosha I trust, especially when seemingly stupid decisions like this are made.

it's a shame to see him go after he turned the corner this year. oh well.

I don't know about that - I'd say he pulled up at the corner with his indicator on, but as to whether he makes it around...

The positive is that FF is now vacant, although with the record of our FFs in recent seasons (Cummings, Wilson now Haynes all gone) I'm not entirely sure anyone would want it.

Could be that FF being vacant might encourage Hansen to hang around for another year in the hope he can get that spot.

He was quick and was able to take a decent mark on a lead. He also seemed like a decent young bloke. His downsides were (well, are) that he was an inaccurate kick, although he improved a lot in this regard as the year went on, and that he was too light to be our permanent FF.

Nice :) Has potential.

Sorry to see Haynesy go, but if that's what he wanted, at least we didn't waste the trade on a dud player. This way, there's one less player to delist, and a higher draft pick to replace him. Allows us to keep the group together, while adding supposedly 'better' kids into the mix.

Agreed.

I'm happy to see Haynes traded, the fact that we got pick #20 for him is a bonus. The guy tried hard, but he just lacked the class of the forwards around him have (Matera, Sampi, McDougall, Embley).

Lets not kid ourselves, Haynes was an average player. Not a hack, but nothing special either.

Haynes' leading was pretty good, football brain was ok.... but he lacked the speed for his size, and his contested marking was poor.
Will probably end up as a HBF if he is to make it in AFL. Pick 20 and some salary cap relief is very good. At least 20 gives you a small chance of pickoing up a future star eg. Simon Black (32)...
something Haynes never will be.

i think you will find that he was one of the quickest at the footy club over 30 metres, neway that is insignificant now. To be honest i think we got pretty ripped off for haynes really. I thought that a swap with him and and pick 58 for the 20th pick is much fairer- 42 is pretty handy in its own right and in this draft there is going to be little difference between pick 20 and 42.

If West Coast intend on only drafting 3 players, than pick #42 was not needed anyway.

Yep, apparently after pick 30 it goes downhill pretty quickly. Wouldn't be surprised to see us only take 3 players after promoting a rookie or two.
