Am I the only one here who's really worried about a let down next week? We have had very short breaks beetween games which included the trip to Adelaide. Also injuries to a few players and possible suspensions to Waite and Betts is not good. Hawthorn have some star players on paper with a good record against us. If we turn up like the past 4 weeks, we will win comfortably.. If not, I can see us getting our pants pulled down!

Definitely.

Hawthorn might be shit, but any team that boasts the names Franklin, Hodge, Roughead, Burgoyne, Mitchell and Rioli can't be taken lightly.

Have to be at our best.

The hard work begins here, great five weeks yes, credit to the boys and coaching staff. But these 4 we are expected to win, problem is injuries and suspensions. Waite will be huge loss you can cover lucas, but Betts, White and Houlihan. if these guys miss it is going to be very difficult to beat even the Hawks who have poor form. Waite should know better he is one structually who is vital in our set up.

I am very worried actually, Hawks have the wood on us and lift when they play us. We are coming off a very hard, bruising game with injuries and suspension as well, will take a huge effort on our part to get up mentally during the week and then to carry that through mentally and physically during the game.

It's weird. I think we're definitely a better team at the moment than Hawthorn and by all means should easily run over them, and yet we still have all this doubt. Sure we haven't beaten them in a while, but so what? Wasn't it only a week ago that we snapped a 12 game losing streak against one of the best sides in the comp?

I think it's our long periods of suffering through heartbreak and defeat, they've scarred us and made us apprehensive about realising how good we've become. However, thinking about it, I have 100% faith in our boys and we will win comfortably.

That is how I felt about the Saints until last week ;)

Our next 5 games are winnable & we must beat the Hawks on Sunday.
Just quietly, I am worried about a let down next week.

We could easily go into the split round on 10 wins & 3 losses.
Who would have thought

Then we have Brisbane in Rnd 14 at Etihad.

Of course all the above depends on injuries etc.

Absolutely.

Whilst the Hawks have been very ordinary thus far this season, the fact remains that they are a VERY dangerous team.

Any team that boasts the talent of Franklin, Roughead, Burgoyne, Mitchell, Sewell, Hodge and Rioli must not be underestimated.

The ladder may indicate that this is going to be a comfortable win with us in great form and the Hawks not so, but that is far from reality.

I am confident that we can beat the Hawks but that is only if we bring our best game from the first bounce. Pressure the Hawks at every opportunity and run, run, run. Stick to the game plan and don't be intimidated by the number of premiership players on the opposition.

I will be going to the stadium fully expecting a win but at the same time fully aware of the possibility of a slip-up.

We won't lose this week. The players know what needs to be done and will deliver. Have a little faith people ... we are coming!!!!

I was worried about the Port game. .. now the Hawks. .. The important thing is not to explode if we do drop a game. .. We'll definitely lose a game or three that we shouldn't before the year is out. .. Its important to maintain the positive attitude. ..

I think this week is the first time we'll be actual favourites for a while too. ..

Good point, however this is Big Footy. God forbid, if we are favourites and lose a match all hell will break loose as it usually does.

I tend to stay away at those times, I get very bored seeing all of the sack Ratten and Hughes, drop everyone threads...

I think we might drop six or so games all together, which means we should make the top six or seven.

Need to string a few wins together. This win loss win loss yo-yo needs to stop for us to ever be considered a genuine finals side.

We are clearly a better side than the Hawks this year.

Need to stay switched on and string a few consecutive wins together. Particualry against the struggling and middle of the road sides that we are up against in the next few weeks.

Some really good points in this thread.

I think the one thing that works in your favour is self belief. You have knocked off some big scalps in Geelong, Saints and Port. It is amazing what impact it has on some of the younger players knowing that they can mix it with the best. I look back on our premiership year in 2008 and we lost to Geelong a few weeks before the finals but only by a couple of kicks. I reckon that game turned us from being "yeah maybe" to "yes we can". Interestingly, the players started to play like they had no fear of failure after that game.

I am sure the players at Carlton now have a similar belief which is a powerful attribute when the chips are down.

Good luck on Saturday lads. Hoping for a cracking game.:thumbsu:

I reckon it'd be a fairer question on the Hawks board. Fair chance we'll be in for a let down this week.

There was NOTHING in the way we beat Richmond that makes me confident. Love to be wrong, and we have pulled some cats out of the bag against you guys in the past, but last year was probably a good indication of your talent (at the time) and you only lost by a kick. This year, you've got better, but minus Fevola.

It'll be interesting, we've got a lot of smaller to medium defenders, and it's when the opposition sends a tall forward that we look woeful...but your forwards are so damn quick.

Again we wait for the Twin Towers in our forward line to click, and again, it just sort of doesn't get going. Will it this week? Not sure.

It also doesn't help when Gibbs starts talking about going "all the way" etc ,etc ,etc.

I hope the players are not getting ahead of themslves.

If the players aren't intent on winning the flag then it's pointless them running out onto the ground ..i would expect nothing less of all our players .

This is quite funny, both Hawks and Blues fans not sure what is going to happen this week, and trying to make the opposition favorites, good stuff.
