Everyone says that Roughie is a ripping bloke. And you only had to see Jordy against Rance in the prelim to know how bloody strong he is.

Said to been a Fantastic Bloke at the Dogs

Training Report: Friday 25th January

Not Training:
  • Taylor Adams
  • Brodie Grundy
  • Jaidyn Stephenson
Modified Training:

Levi Greenwood - ran laps around the track
Dayne Beams - ran laps around the track
Jack Crisp - ran laps around the track
Daniel Wells - ran laps around the track
Issac Quaynor - ran laps around the track
Matthew Sharenberg - ran laps around the track
Ben Reid - ran laps around the track but also participated in some drills
Jordan De Goey - didn’t do a whole lot which is a worry. Ran some sprints and participated in some drills but not in the match simulation
Jamie Elliott - participated in the first main match simulation game and then did some sprints on the sides before going inside
Adam Treloar - participated in the first main match simulation game and then went inside

Braved the heat today and went along to watch the boys train. They kicked off at around 9.30 and finished at around 11.30. It was an intense session where for most part they did match simulation which was enjoyable to watch. Treloar and Elliott participated in the first main game of match simulation as well as some sprints on the sides which was good to see and then went inside (assume to do some weights or something) They both look to be fit but are still being carefully managed so they don’t over do it. De Goey didn’t participate in any match simulation and looks to be carefully managed, hope he can get fit! Stand out today for me would have to be Moore, looking really fit so let’s hope he can stay that way because he could be the difference for us in 2019!!

Happy to try and answer any of your questions below :)

No. definitely not Tohill.

My nomination is Campbell Lane from the VFL?

I note that the Dandenong Stingrays co-captain Campbell Husthwaite, who has joined our VFL team, was in amongst it and fed out the handball that WHE appeared to goal with. He's sporting a bit of a Kyle Martin-style rough haircut

Yes all the players in the red vest were on modified programs and most were running laps at the start before joining in with the others.
Oh okay. Just first time I have seen that this season. Prior to today, even those on modified programs just wore their usual tops.

So Adams doesn't participate in training at all yet plays tennis with Philippoussis this morning prior to training starting? Gee.

He did that Instead I guess

I wouldn’t worry.

The day Adams is questioned about his contribution is the day we pack up the bags and close the season off.

So to speak.

Luckily for us, Adams won’t pack his bags until the cup is won.

It offers a bit of an insight into why no one should take any notice of who is and isn’t training from the senior group. They’re all on different programs.

One in particular I’d be ok with them de-loading a bit is Moore. Having him so involved in match sim and with the heavier training loads than he’s ever experienced has me wary. Especially with Roughead, Reid and Goldsack the experienced alternates until we know Dunn’s playing timeframe.

We start against Hawkins, Kennedy/ Darling and Lynch/ Riewoldt so I really don’t want to be relying on an undersized Goldsack, an injury prone Reid and a guy who hasn’t played consistent footy as a KPD for 4 years in Roughead (even then that standard was average)...

Jordan was prominent in all drills today. He was one of the first players I noticed as he trained very solidly. Good to see him back in top nick. Elliott is being carefully managed. He did a lot of running work today. I'll have a look on Monday to see if he takes part in match simulation.

JDG's first full preseason without injury interruptions. Look out!!! All his stats are better than Dusty's at same age.
Love the idea when Cox comes off for a rest, leave Elliott and JDG up fwd.. very different / hard match-ups for op coaches!

With Beames floating forward.

An unguarded hyphen can cause havoc too....

Is anyone going to watch the boys train tomorrow? If so what time do they train?
