News Are We Really Improving?

Trying to be balanced in your views doesn't mean you are balanced in your views but 10 points for trying . I would of told Chris Newman 2013 was his last year and grabbed Dal Santo he would of preferred to come to Richmond over North back then but now they have over taken us unfortunately . He is a major part of that. Did you watch his finals series? Players with finals experience should have been on the charter.

I find it funny that you are giving me feedback about having a balanced view, thanks for that mate. Here have 20 points, you deserve it for bringing a smile to my face .

Again, and i know its useless as it will be a one liner and no facts to back it up but how has North gone passed us ? have they played consecutive finals 2 years straight ? Have they won more games, even including there soft draw last year and as well as this year ? On a development standpoint, how many young guns have gone past our kids ? etc.

Teams lose players and decline all the time. There are plenty of teams that aren't improving.

We have been under staffed in the footy department for years and we didnt replace lost assistants in coaching our drafting has been poor as shown in another thread.
Youre trolling in an attempt to derail the truth as its hit a raw nerve.if all you've stated is true then why have we struggled to beat a 9th placed finalist in one year and the humiliated in 10min the next.Are we really improving at a faster rate to be ahead of our competitors?
Are you sure about the statement you made below in bold or is it just hope spin and speculation?This is what i was asking in the OP,but where did you get your evidence to support your conclusion??

We're already BIG. When/if we start winning finals then we'll be just as POWERFUL as Hawks currently are.

They lost their best players and replaced them with raw kids. This might improve them several years down the track but they certainly aren't making up ground on us in the next few years.

Not to mention they only had Daniel Wells for 5 games this year , could you imagine the excuses you would have to make up if we missed Lids for the first 19 rounds. OMG there'd be more spin on here than in the nets at the Calcutta Cricket Ground on Thursday nights.

We decided to trade out Harry because he was causing a disturbance. We replaced him with a 2 time premiership player.
With Beams we replaced him with Greenwood, a player who lost a B&F by one vote at a current Top 4 side.
We also have Pick 5 in that trade, which will be our 4th Top 10 pick in the last 2 drafts.

See if its all about premierships, they have done squat, the same as us. hardly gone past us. Really it comes down to direction there list is going compared to ours and which strategy would make it quicker to get a premiership.

Norf had a good season, off a dead set easy draw with minimal injurys to key players. Yeah they missed wells but outside of that they did not have a good chunk of there starting 22 out at the same block of time. I also would never tease you Rusty, but just quitely a 1 day ban for teasing is not that bad, better then two weeks for 7 pages of direct stalking but you know that

Now Port for example have gone past us, as they have achieved finals two years running, won finals and there progress now looks to be something they can sustain. If Norf get into the finals next year, win another and we still are win less ( in finals) then i will say the same then.

To suggest they have gone past us now is crazy talk.

My point was about building cycles of Hawthorn versus RFC not who had what stars. Richo was old by the time 2004 was around in terms of a rebuild for a premiership. Hodge was just starting. But the point was more about RFC may have built from 2004 but Hawthorn built from 2001. It also could be argued Hawthorn built for longer because some at RFC are obsessed with the short term and like to take short cuts!

It's the same reason I knew Melbourne supporters were going to be disappointed around 2008/2009 when comparing themselves to us.

We already had Deledio/Riewoldt/Cotchin as kids before they even began. Then we had our full-club rebuild in 2009/2010 starting with Dustin Martin and the new off-field approach.

Hawks had Hodge/Mitchell 3 years before their proper rebuild with Buddy/Roughead/Lewis. It's a good general comparison.

To be honest Hawthorn were well ahead of us in 2004. We had nothing for the future and they had Hodge from 2001. I would argue their rebuild started in 2001 or earlier well before 2004 anyway!

Of course they were. They had a nucleus of a midfield of which we didn't have.
