Only if i get free tickets. If it was a home game, I'd be there, dont care about sunday night (I backed up to work on Friday last week following thursday night, and will do it again this week if i can get in).

That being said, not worth spending 40-50 bucks to get in on a sunday night, when I can catch it on the TV.

Just as extension to this game, how the hell does Carlton get two Sunday night games, a Thursday night game and a Monday night game all the first 8 weeks of the season. I don't mind the Richmond game as it's now the norm, but the other 3 can GAGF.

No bloody wonder the crowds are down - judging by the response on here the MCG will be lucky to get 70k on Sunday night.

You are hard to please! Moet? Veuve Clicquot? Bollinger? ;)

On a serious note, though- this really is a complete shocker for anyone needing to get up early for work on Monday. I'll need to be up at 7 so I can probably get away with it, but if it were, say, 5- then you're pushing it.

The new ticket pricing would have a lot to do with attendances being down as well.

Very true.
Alot of dis-satisfied callers ringing into SEN about this.

They have been calling in since Rnd 1 and they have a very valid point!

I hate the new ticket pricing structure.

Most of our games are classed A & B meaning higher prices.

I am over from Perth for the game so I will going but if I lived in Melbourne I reckon I would just about give this one a miss.

We have a lower membership because we are one of the TV powerhouses. We dont have a dedicated home ground, and our TV exposure means that supporters dont need to sign up to watch us play.

Our FTA coverage this year is pretty big - of the 22 games we play, 13 are on FTA - FTA TV gets the right to 4 games per round (4*23 = 92 FTA games total). We are in 14% of games shown on FTA and many are in prime time slots - we dont have any FTA sunday afternoons (we have 2 Thursday Night, 6 Friday Night, 1 Saturday Day, 1 Saturday Night, 2 Sunday Night)

In contrast, the bulldogs are on FTA 10 times, of which 6 are the sunday 3pm game - not the best slot for ratings. The Roos are on FTA 10 times, and Melbourne on 9 times.

Yes, I'll be going. In no way does that mean I endorse the time slot, though.

It really is a ridiculous time to have a football match. I just cannot understand the thinking behind playing games at that time.

If the AFL is serious about wanting to be a family friendly sport, we won't see games at that time beyond this season.

Unless it is school holidays, thousands of kids and families won't go due to the late night & school commitments the next day.
