Opinion Are you optimistic for the season ahead ?

I wandered into my local TAB this afternoon for a quiet punt.

The 2024 GF was on one of the screens.

Any optimism I had was quickly extinguished.

Fortunately Margaret (the lovely lady behind the counter) agreed to change the channel for me.

When it catches you off guard like that, it's like a knife through the heart

It's on Fox all the effing time.

Occasionally the batteries fall out of my remote and I end up watching for like 90 seconds.

The worst part was 15 minutes into the last quarter where Brisbane are basically drinking champagne in a hot tub on the bench, suddenly Florent is winning contests and lacing blokes out on the wing.

Still think we have the list but our shitfullness in GFs is an undeniable fact as it stands.

Change of coach has helped.

More optimistic with a coach that MIGHT change things we all know Horse wouldn't. Still not convinced we get it done when it counts (At the G in a big final) but it's a better chance than we would be if our old coach was there, so that's a positive

Frustrating that they can't prove it wrong or right until they get all the way back to
the big one too. Seems so far away

I’m not a Liverpool fan but watching them in the EPL this year has given me cause for optimism (assuming they go all the way)

Their situation is not dissimilar to ours, they have been thereabouts for the last 3-4 years but kept just missing out on the title.

Their long time coach stands down, replaced with a new coach who inherits the team but makes minor tweaks and has them humming.

I think the change of coach will somewhat lift some weight from the groups shoulders.

I couldn’t help but keep thinking about how he missed last season with the stupid act.
Then I listened to Cox’s speech & couldn’t help but think of what the new players’ parents must have been thinking it translated to.
“We’ll teach your kids, through our academy, the best places to buy drugs without getting caught.”

Sorry but hurry up & get to work showing some resilience & real tough stuff at the footy on field & f . . K off with the cheap talk.

We arent losing by a few goals we have not been in the contest at all so i struggle to see the turnaround for the deciding game with the same players or maybe we dont get there again with this group so we dont have to worry?

Optimistic we will make final 4. After that you have to ride your luck. Did it last year to pretty good effect. Happy to roll the dice again for '25. Thinking Post grand final slump phenomenon may be reduced because of the competition for spots. Probably only 8-10 players that won't be looking over their shoulder. Good thing.

Brisbane were (rightfully) exhausted by the 4th after one of the best finals campaigns I've ever seen played.
They should have beaten us by 160 such was their dominance in the first three quarters.

I’m still optimistic. Try a few things game style wise, up the contested game then make a charge towards the 8. We’re trying to change the engines in the Jumbo whilst flying, so expect a little bit of early turbulence, loss of altitude.

After being exposed in the GF, with the lengthy injury list and the change of coach, I'm mainly interested in the development of new players and an improvement in our contested possession count. Win loss ratio not an immediate concern to me.
