This is a new season, and we're going to kick things off with a little bit of a change.

This thread is for discussion of the games we aren't playing in. It is not a thread to constantly refer to how well/badly we are going in our own games, nor is it a place to ruin the enjoyment of others with constant jabs or referrals to Carlton's woes.

Any posts that do so continuously will get deleted, and anyone who continues to push the envelope afterwards will find themselves threadbanned.

You are in denial if you can’t see how special this bloke is. He’s also only 23

Pretty sure I already said how fantastic a player he is and that he has elite skills when it comes to using the ball. No bias on my account.

However, he’s still very much a player who struggles to beat a tag and can shrink from contests when he needs to put his body on the line.

If he wants to be the best player in the league, he needs to improve in those areas and not rely on cheap possessions.

Like you said, he’s only 23 and time is definitely his side. But right now, I still have Bont clearly ahead of him. I also rate Heeney very highly, and Neale is a hell of a player too—even if he can be a right royal ....

You rate Lachie Neale as the third best current player in the league?

He’s a champion and has had great career but he isn’t even in Brisbane’s top 3,
let alone the whole AFL.

Not the third best in the competition I just think hes a hell of a player. I wasn't really listing in order just immediately names that came to my head. I also think people overlook how much he still brings to that team. Hes a creative for that team

If i had to list the top three it would probably be

1. Bont
2. Heeney
3. Daicos

From there it gets a bit personal preference but names like;

Dawson, Butters, Anderson, Serong, and Holmes

People discount 2 x Daicos, Elliot, Cameron, pendles, bottom, Schultz, with very useful players in Quaynor, McReere, DeGooey, Houston, etc. then you’ll have Moore and Howe back in at some point. Like Geelong we think age will catch up but like Geelong system has shown to be more important than age.

I didn’t realise until now that the game last night at the MCG was a St Kilda home game. Imagine wasting a home game to play at a stadium against a club that calls the MCG home. And they lost by 2 goals.

The basic execution of disposal skills of both these sides playing in this game tonight appears to be exceptional.

Both these sides in the game that I’m currently watching tonight appears to be playing a simple well defined and executed game plan, even their less experienced players seem to be all playing on the same page and some of the more maligned Essendon and Hawthorn players too seem to have their heads around their team plans and methods- it is a joy watching this game.
