This thread is for discussion of the games we aren't playing in. It is not a thread to constantly refer to how well/badly we are going in our own games, nor is it a place to ruin the enjoyment of others with constant jabs or referrals to Carlton's woes.

Any posts that do so continuously will get deleted, and anyone who continues to push the envelope afterwards will find themselves threadbanned.

Thanks all!

They look like finals material at this stage, you’d think.

As long as it doesn't come at our expense, awesome.

But this team has looked like a finals team before and fallen away badly. They better not count their chickens.

There's also the fact that they've played the eagles, the dees, nth, richmond; beat the crows by a point at home, the swans at home, the dogs and hawks at home. Lost to Richmond and Brisbane away. Their away record at this point is a respectable 2-2, which is hampered by the effect that they've played WC and Melbourne. Nth in Gather round doesn't count IMO as an away game, for pretty obvious reasons.

When people look at the AFL's inequities, there's a reason one of the biggest ones they look at is the draw. GC have started well, but they've also lined up what contenders they've faced at home. Played 1 game at the G against an insipid Melbourne. Have faced 4 of the top 8, all at home except for Brisbane which they lost.

They've got the Aints at Marvel, the Cats in GMHBA, and the Giants at Engie in their next 4. We'll know a bit more after those.

The deliberate out of bounds rule is a blight on the game in its current interpretation.

Should have been a ball up in GC forward pocket...instead Hawks free leads to a red time goal.

No such rule any more, it's called "insufficient attempt" to keep the ball in play. It was brought it to replace "deliberate out of bounds" because the umpires didn't know how to call the "deliberate" rule correctly. It is basically setting the game up for last touch out of bounds is a free kick. It all comes down to interpretation, the umpires can not be wrong.

The rules were fine and if paid correctly, they wouldn't need to change them every year or change "interpretation" every few weeks. The AFL have made a mockery out of the rules of the game.

They need full time umpires with black and white rules, no grey areas.
