Look, making finals is a great achievement, it is, I'd ****ing love to be in these games.

However, this is about as bad a fortnight as you could have thought of, might as well have not made finals at all.

Losing in straight sets is as bad as not making finals. Worse even. All that effort across the season and you don't fire a shot when it counts. This may have a similar impact on this group as being smashed in a GF.

Not a surprise result. Called it last week. They looked cooked then, they were more cooked this week. They can blame losing Rankine all they like. At no point did they ever looked switched on.

I'll give them a potential out with Rankine in last week's game, but Rankine does not fix a 31-17 scoring shot game. Smashing.

Or at least take off Tex or Fogarty to bring him on. Nicks has had 8 quarters to realise that Tex is finished and that Fogarty is a completely conditional player. The coach decided to change nothing.

I do wonder if the Collingwood final turns out differently if Walker kicks the goals he fluffed.

They lost by 4 goals and he missed 3 cery gettable opportunities and twice Collingwood turned it around for a goal.

Hawks were just far too fast and classy

With the form Hawthorn are displaying so far in the finals Collingwood are very lucky that Gold Coast lost that last h&a game against Port.

Collingwood have been that lucky so far that if it continues .... including Umpires ... they'll hit the lead with 17 Premierships
So often teams go to water when playing Collingwood ... but I'll give them credit for all the tackling pressure they apply ... can't be easy dealing with that unrelenting intense pressure.

Easy to have that level of tenacity in your tackling when if things go wrong you know you won't get penalized for it by Michael Christian. There's been a number of incidents this year where had it been another team they'd risk a week or two.
