Very flat wicket and if the weather is anything like it is in London, it's ****ing lovely and warm in Kent. Perfect playing weather.

Are you a Somerset fan?

Yorkshire is my team...

In 2013 Australia were given 2 decent teams in their build up ,but this time they have been fed 2 of the worst teams..
Will it have an impact on the series? hmmmmm

Who's our next game against?

Oh dear, Broady thinks the current #1 batsman in the world coming in at 3 is a weakness for us. He has plans for him apparently. I sure hope those plans are better developed than your 'bowl short to Clarke' plan Stu, but something tells me the full extent is simply to pitch it up outside off. Smith will be leaving balls all day.

Would have been great to watch Mitch Marsh's innings. It is what it is, a tour match against Kent, but this boy can play!

Exactly 2 years since this game against Somerset . Though that Somerset side that some decent talent in there...
This Kent side has got nothing apart from Billings.

I don't buy that, there's a bit of potential there. It's not inconceivable that Northeast and Bell-Drummond can make the next step in becoming international cricketers, particularly in the shorter formats. Riley is also one of the better spinners in the country and hasn't been that far out of the reckoning in England's post Swann search. Key and Denly are pretty experienced batsmen who've played and succeeded against players of this quality before.

Certainly that Somerset batting lineup is stronger, but a bowling attack led by a 19 year old Overton with 20 year old Dockrell and backed up by medium pacers Meschede and Trego with a journeyman in Hussain is virtually the same as what Kent have got out there in this match.

It's not quite the cheeky U/19 academy sides that we were putting up prior to the Australian leg of the 2013 Ashes.

I wonder what the eleven will be for the the final lead up match against Essex starting on Wednesday? You would think all six players not taking part in this match will play, along with five from this line up that the team and selectors will want to see play again for various reasons.
This is my guess:

Warner
Rogers
S Marsh
Clarke
Voges
Watson
Nevil
Starc
Harris
Hazelwood
Lyon

I think Rogers has secured his opening position for Cardiff now but, no.6 & the three pace bowlers are yet to be completely decided upon.

I don't think Rogers has secured his position. The fact that Shaun Marsh didn't have to bat in the second innings gives me an indication that at the moment the selectors are favouring him for the opening position.

So Watson didn't bowl?

That suggests he's in the team as a batsman only. Shaun Marsh is a better batsman in better form. Surely he gets the nod then?

If they want an all rounder in the team there can't be a question about it if Watson isn't bowling Mitch Marsh has to be in.

Watson will probably be in the team for the first test but he has to perform in a big way otherwise he's gone for lords imo.

I think the opposite.
It means that they didn't see a point in him getting batting time because they wanted Rogers and Clarke to bat.

1. Warner
2. Rogers
3. Clarke
4. Voges
5. Watson
6. M.Marsh
7. Haddin+
8. Starc
9. Harris
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon

Johnson's done enough to make the first test team barring Starc absolutely dominating Essex

Yep, I agree. Plus Rogers is the specialist opener & with scores of 84 & 45 it shows he's in reasonable knick. It will be confirmed if he & Warner open up together in the next match. It would be interesting if S Marsh gets another bat against Essex, scores a century & Voges was to fail (although Voges should be playing not matter what happens). A few more wickets tonight & Johnson will well & truly secure his place for the 1st Test
