Yep. Not boasting, just think Australia will win 2 nil. Would be more but token shit English weather and bad light will ensure 3 draws.

Sounds about right. Too much is left to Broad and Anderson and I just can't see them taking 20 wickets and making enough runs to beat us.

Im not the one making the big predictions like the other guy...
Pre series boasting usually backfires..

All I know is England is harder to beat at home then on the bouncy decks of Australia..
where bounce is replaced by swing.

Neither Anderson or Broad are what they once were. Starc looks to have his hooping balls under control and he's a pace quicker. If it predictably does swing and he can hit his straps (and he is selected), England aren't going to be able to handle him.

I'm not that confident about our batting. Warner lately appears to be playing mind-games with himself and he's someone the Aussies really need to fire.

Luckily Warner's mind doesn't do a lot of thinking.... He doesn't strike me as somebody who is easily distracted by thinking. See ball, hit ball.

Well, that's certainly what I hope,

But I don't like what's been coming out of his mouth about changing his attitudes and all that. You wouldn't want him to second guess himself about his own cricket.

I wouldn't stress too much about Warner. I can see him firing up with the bat for a big Ashes series in England.

Baking hot weather has arrived. Perfect chance to dry out the wickets for the spinners..
Turns out there is a hose ban at every ashes venue.

It's been bloody warm today. Tomorrow is going to get up to 34 which will be relatively revolting in London if you must take public transport.

meanwhile in Spain.....

I reckon he'll be fine. Probably been looking at this series for a while now. I'm more concerned with our middle order.

That's why it's so important Rogers, Warner, Smith do well. If the middle order are exposed to a fresh Anderson and to a lesser extent Broad swinging the ball left and right, 200 will be a good score.

Our batting line up is looking the strongest it has been in years coming into the series, players scoring runs and a debate about who is going to be the unlucky person dropped, rather than which one of the underperforming players do we keep in. The real debate for the first test is the whole Rogers/Marsh/Voges/Watson selection drama. Four doesn't go into three so someone misses out. Whilst I would love it to be Watson I doubt it will be, most likely Voges, which is really tough on him because hasn't done anything wrong, but then again that is test cricket, not sure Brad Hodge did too much wrong to only play a few tests either.

Top 6 (they will select)
Rogers
Warner
Smith
Clarke
M. Marsh
Watson - really, really want to see Voges here, but selectors will use the bowling excuse for Watson to survive, again.

There is no way Watson & M. Marsh will play in the 1st Test together. There competing for one position. Did you mean S. Marsh at no. 5?

No chance mate.

I feel like Clark will stand up in the Ashes. His last big series and he'll want to go out with a bang.

More concerned with postions 6, 7 rather than Clarke. He is hitting the ball well.

Head not working today, oops, meant Shaun not Mitch, especially as I don't think Mitch is currently up to test level.

I'd be happy to see Watson out for Voges, sure means we lose his bowling, but we get a batsman. The weather forecast is very good so not sure how much grass will be on the pitch and it is most likely to turn in the second half of the test so Smith will be more effective than Watson. But we all know CA has a love affair with Watson, which the rest of the cricketing world is still trying to out why.

Voges will play and comfortably. Will bat at 5. The only position up for grabs is M.Marsh or Watson. Watson just annoys me so I hope it is M.Marsh, he can't be any worse!

Honestly think that the NZ home & away series this summer will be a lot tougher than the Ashes.

Not so confident, and it is purely because we are going to play two used lemons at 6 and 7 in our batting lineup. England more than other countries the ball really swings and you can lost 2-3 quick wickets. I'm shuddering at the thought of Watson and Haddin doing something with the bat...

Probably. Farewell test in Sydney, has at least deserved to go out on his terms.

Hypothetically retiring after leading Australia to it's first test series victory in England in 14 years, six months after leading Australia to a home world cup victory and after winning the Ashes 5-0 and knocking off South Africa in South Africa could be considered by some to be going out on your own terms.

So if Voges plays at 5, given that it will be Mitch Marsh or Watson at 6 (working off the CA love of an all rounder) who then misses out of Shaun Marsh and Rogers?
