Maybe officially? I thought there was normally a very strong indication of the team before that though? Or at least a XII?

Nervous as **** that they will not play Lyon and/or M Marsh after that article.

Hold your horses, there will be plenty of other shit to get nervous about once the game starts.

Personally, I'm fine when the Aussies bowl, but should really watch them batting from the safety of the toilet.

I can but I have to sort out an aerial for the TV, apart from the GF or BBL I never watch FTA.
I've got a rooftop aerial but can only pick up a signal intermittently if the weather is good... Haven't missed it except for ashes, GF, and Olympics... Not a big fan of reality cooking/renovation shows

Anyone else heading into Cardiff for the game? I'd be up for a beer with any other Aussies. Went to go watch training today, after being told by cricket Australia Twitter it was at 1pm, and wasn't allowed in :( Disappointing.

Mitch Marsh in the dugout, replaying his matches
Watson and Haddin both leaving their catches
Clarke getting tired and hitting up Bings
These are a few of my favourite things

Cummins on the plane with no first class action
Doing his back in when he falls with no traction
Siddle avoiding the meat that Pat brings
These are a few of my favourite things

Warner gets Rooted, a fistfight at the bar
Bring Ahmed on to bowl and watch it go so far
Watch Rogers try to hit it outside of the ring
These are a few of my favourite things

When old MJ strikes
And the wides flow
And we're feeling sad
Remember the day that he made Broady piss
And then we won't feel...so bad!

On that note, off to Melbourne/Sydney...may not be on here much for the first few Tests...hope the board survives without me!

Under 24 hours to go. First session would be done and dusted. It will be interesting to see the bowling attack that we take in, i've heard Siddle may come in for Lyon which i'm OK with as long as it's a pitch that won't help spin alot. We've got Voges and Smith in particular that can bowl some part time overs to push the required over rate through. My 12 would be

1. David WARNER
2. Chris ROGERS
3. Steve SMITH
4. Michael CLARKE (C)
5. Adam VOGES
6. Mitch MARSH/ Shane WATSON - The all-rounder
7. Brad HADDIN (W/K)
8. Mitchell JOHNSON
9. Mitchell STARC
10. Josh HAZELWOOD/ Peter SIDDLE
11. Nathan LYON/ Josh HAZELWOOD

12. Shane WATSON/ Mitch MARSH

Said mower didn't go astray and crash into Shane Watson by any chance?
Sadly no. It has however made the pitch slower. Clearly afraid of the mighty Mitchell Johnson tearing through the English side in about 35 minutes.

So if they're looking at Watson ahead of Marsh because of his bowling.., why did he only bowl 6 overs an innings in the tour game?
Its not as if they gave Marsh substantially more bowling time, Nor could you say Marsh outbowled him.
Still a coin flip between them for me, Which means the Incumbent gets first crack. The way he was used in the WC shows to me that the selectors are getting fed up with him aswell.

IMO the thing that made O'keefe great was the fact that he had both humour and good analysis of the game

The humour would come out when the game was meandering along.

But then he would cut in with some technical aspect of a player, or perhaps some info from their 1st division days.

He wasn't just a media personality - he knew his cricket

Greg Matthews surprised me as a commentator. You had to get past his voice and mannerisms - but the bloke talked quality cricker

Yeah because a slow pitch totally stopped him from taking 7/40 at Adelaide Oval!

MJ hasn't been at that pace since the SA series though

Bowling a good 7-10kmh slower

In that game he alternate between about 146 and 154

Nowadays he is down at 138-145

My 11 would be but won't be because WA players get shafted at selection

WARNER
MARSH
Smith
Clarke
Voges
Marsh
Haddin
Johnson
Starc
Hazelwood
Lyon

Me thinks they will pick Watson and Rodgers

Watson is in terrible form with Mitch marsh in great form with the bat and ball

Why is it so hard to drop Watson?

Ffs

Yes good point, unfortunately his pace is down but perhaps he might find a extra yard or two of pace since it's an Ashes series? His pace was still top notch in the Pakistan series, but it appears to me that since around the time of the tragic passing of Phillip Hughes, he's never quite been the same. Of course it also didn't help that the wickets we prepared for India were total bowler's graveyards either.

Mitch marsh will always go for a few runs but he can bowl 145 km ph but does take wickets

Watson is in poor form with the bat also and has be for ages

What's hard about this decision .....

If we pick Watson England will go "you bloody beauty boys" we've got a bunny boy

Where as if we pick marsh at 6 and he can really bat ....he's a batting all rounder but I think we enough with Hazelwood Johnson Starc and Lyon ...

Geez pick marsh
