Seriously though, gonna do my nut if Michael Clarke compliments another good team player this series. You know who else was a good team player? Simon Katich. Where did that get him under your captaincy, Pup?

Geez Root is a boring captain.
I dunno if I agree with this. He used some very proactive tactics against Smith in the first Test, changing fields and putting him under a lot of pressure. Also the decision to bowl last Test was a pretty positive approach - taking a calculated risk despite it opening him up to criticism. I have been a fan of his captaincy in other series,

It's true he's let things in the field drift badly a few times, later on in Adelaide and here. I do wonder if maybe the fact that England have been found wanting several times this series (particularly on the bowling side) has made him a bit gun-shy. If you don't have faith in the ability of your players to execute your strategy, it's easy to become pretty conservative.

Katich was a bitter curmudgeonly arseh*le.

People DO understand the concept of an all-rounder. They just view as extra quality batsmen as more worthwhile than an all-rounder that's not particularly great at batting of bowling though. He's batting well though.

The comments reveal otherwise, saying a all rounder HAS to be in the best 6 bats AND the best 5 bowlers in the country is just rubbish. The Australian selectors have often agreed the six specialist bats have been the way to go, you got 4 bowlers who a consistent quality. Mitch Marsh like Maxwell has the talent. Both have not delivered, though Mitch is makings case well today.

If anyone truly thinks that, they are an idiot. A good batsmen OR good bowler has more worth than an average batsman and bowler, though. That being said, Marsh is playing well today, so good on him.
