The idea that there's one form of true Christianity is misguided. Those who call themselves true believers generally follow one of the more modern interpretations in fundamentalism. For many of us here, the whole exercise of faith is the problem. It is believing something to be true because you want it to be true, backed up with no more than confirmation bias. Many people posting in this thread, like me, grew up in a Christian household and attended regular church services, but could never make it work as adults.
The whole bit about having preconceived and haughty ideas is misplaced. For me, it was only after faith didn't work that I started studying critical scholarship of the bible and early church history. If you study it, the whole idea of Christianity emerging fully formed and complete in the decade or two after the 33 CE seems unrealistic, and those that cling to it seem preconceived and haughty. It is quite clear that Christianity took a couple of centuries to fully mature, and that it is the collective works of man over several generations who carefully wrote, rewrote, redacted, edited, added and merged the texts.

We're of a similar mindset in that regard. If there is a form of absolute truth in this world, I see no evidence that anyone has found it; least of all those who claim ownership of the truth and spruik its benefits to the rest of us.Exactly and this is the same as Islam, Sunnis and Shias dominate and anyone who disagrees with them is not a real Muslim. You can see plenty of example in this thread about resurrection, how Jesus' resurrection is real and how miracles in every other religion is false. This is not unique to Christianity, this cult mentality exists amongst all fundamentalists across all religions who parrots the same line basically "My path is the right path, my god is the right god, everyone else who disagrees with me are misguided". This is the reason why despite not being an atheist, i stay far away from organised religion.

People should be given the freedom to find their own place of happiness in this world and for some that will be through Christianity or Islam because what works for one will not necessarily work for another.
I personally enjoy going to nudist beaches, though I'm respectful enough towards the wants of others to wear pants when I'm at a shopping center. Religion should be treated the same way because some people don't want to see your Jesus or Mohammed out in public, and even less want Jesus shoved down their throats. If religious folk would keep Jesus in their pants, there would be no need for antitheism.

Anyone who has found the truth in Christianity is compelled to spread the word.
It's understandable the motives that bring Christians here, and it's also very clear the motives behind you so-called anti-theists coming here.
The basics of Christianity implies belief in the resurrection, the Trinity, and accepting that Jesus is the only way to God.The idea that there's one form of true Christianity is misguided. I know my limitations.Except you and pick and choose what to answer and what not to.
Your 2nd line is pretty much highlights the problem in the Islamic world today and the problem with religion in general over the past 2,000 years. Your truth, not anyone elses, Christianity has been spread by sword, just like Islam, read a page or two of history to see how 'compelling' the spread became. If you guys would live and let live, we wouldn't be arguing here today
Yes i am aware, i have been called a devil by a fair few of them in the Zurich main street. I go the other way when i see you nutjobs.I know my limitations.
Christianity continues to be spread by evangelism.
OK back on topic- I have questions for our "brothers and sisters in christ"
1. Were you (or are you still) embarrassed by the actions of the evangelical "brothers and sisters in christ" and their behaviour as a result of Trump losing the (rigged) election? Ken Copeland who cured Coronavirus via satellite and his unhinged laughter, Paula-White Cain ("We lose confusion into every demonic confederacy!")
2. Have you ever spoken in tongues? I got high one day and I reckon I was not making sense, I thought at the time too much pinger, cocaine and "devil drink!" but now I am thinking, was God was speaking through me?
3. Have you ever gone to church and had Paster Whoever It Is do a bible reading and think "nah he's cooked that one. That's not what God was trying to say there".
4. Why is God such a campaigner? I mean all that Fire and Brimstone or that time he just drowned everyone on the planet, that sh*t is brutal. That dude in Avengers Endgame, all he did was click his fingers, that's what God could have done, instead he's crushing babies with rocks from the sky. That's f’ed up.
5. Who would win in a fight- Samson or The Rock?
Some people think beyond the basics. The basics of Christianity implies belief in the resurrection, the Trinity, and accepting that Jesus is the only way to God.
It does not matter what sort of Christianity you refer to. Even Catholicism has this as its basis.
Well he was picking on someone for quoting wikipedia...Some people think beyond the basics.
If I self-identified as a believer of and started a thread on the topic of asking a reptilian conspiracy theorist about what they believe, how do you think that would go?EXCEPT THIS THREAD IS FOR ASKING WHAT CHRISTIANS BELIEVE.

Less than a page of responses, as opposed to 347 pages and nearly 10000 postsIf I self-identified as a believer of and started a thread on the topic of asking a reptilian conspiracy theorist about what they believe, how do you think that would go?
If you post stupid sh*t and get called out for it, that doesn't prove you are right. It just proves that you're stupid.
Verse 34 of what?Wait for it.......
Verse 34. "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send [or bring] peace, but a sword."

If you **** over enough people, you'll get a sizeable response. That's the Trump MO.Less than a page of responses, as opposed to 347 pages and nearly 10000 posts
lol, I thought you were a christian, it’s one of the most powerful verses in the entire book, Jesus apparently said it, isn’t Jesus the way the life the etc to you?Verse 34 of what?

I’ve discussed this verse with many christians, all they have is, “oh your taking that out of context, you’re interpreting it wrong”,My favourite is:
25 Many people were traveling with Jesus. He said to them, 26 “If you come to me but will not leave your family, you cannot be my follower. You must love me more than your father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters—even more than your own life! 27 Whoever will not carry the cross that is given to them when they follow me cannot be my follower.
Imagine a bloke claiming to be a messiah coming to you and telling you this? i will try to find a thing to shove up the unementionable.
