wow dude u need to chill out and stop worrying about jumping at someone who is just pointing out the facts. We do have players that need to be dropped and we also have players who need to improve. Its a known fact. If we had an abundance of good players then we wouldn't be so far down the ladder, but we don't have those players and so that is why i am pointing out the need to drop some of our less successful players to make room for the future

I have nothing but pure faith in Astbury , Griffith and Post. All 3 will be very solid players for us for a very long time. They will all develop into very solid footballers next year.EXACTLY. Heaven help any Richmond payer who shows any sort of ability first-up ... boy do the expectations quickly grow.
Would be interested to revisit any thread soon after Dean Polo's debut v the Bombers in Dreamtime at the G.
Bet there were plenty hailing the next midfield genius.
Fast forward five years, Polo has just laboured to the 50 game mark and is battling for his football survival, having equal the number of off-field discretions than influential games!!
Way too early to tell on Astbury ... just be staisfied he's showing a bit and has time on his side to develop.
making a long term call on a player after 5 or 6 games is nothing more than a pluck from the clacker and for all it';s worth, that's where it should remain

Really like this Kid! Just doesn't look like A 195cm player. As someone else said, he moves like and sub 190cm player.
Given that Jack is a lock as a KPF and Griffiths will likely be the other KPF, I'm starting to think I want him to play as a backman and possible swing him forward on the odd occasion. He obviously needs to fill out, but with the way he reads the play, his composure and good skills he would be a really good CHB. What I'm really hoping for is a Brian Lake type player.
Thats the thing about him, he moves like a bloke who's sub 190cm. Once he fills out he'll be a really dangerous player, good on the ground and in traffic, and big enough to take a contested mark and play a key position.
We have already told Goo to play at the other end of the ground. He has not played a game yet but has looked good at VFL. So riht now we can afford to keep pumping games into Astbury in the forward line.I've been thinking something similar but coming from a different angle. Wondering who will be our CHB going forward, his name kept springing up, especially with the skill set as outlined by freezer (below) and yourself. But we drafted him as a KPF and we don't exactly have a surplus of key position forwards. Would we just be robbing peter to pay paul if we tried him at centre half back?
He should have kicked 3 last friday night.
This guy could be a Mark Le Cras or he could be a Chris Pym.
Time will tell - just checked his size - Is he really 195 cm ? wow![]()

Jack will play KPF for atleast till the end of the year. I want to see Astbury, Jack and Griff all in the forward line this week. 1-2 goals from each 3 would be a good result.JR isn't a lock KPF.
Unless our forward line is kicking 30 goals consistently every game it is always under review.
At the moment JR is going well at FF. However unless he kicks consistently 150 goals each year he ant no certainty to be there. Personally, JR is a lock but he isn't a lock FF.
I think JR can do exactly what his is doing now from the forward pocket!!
So JR for me is still a third tall and not necessarily a lock KPF which is a different concept again
Chris Pym!, showing your age there peejay..oops so am I.![]()

yes i am - i was there that night it was his 5th game - we were bottom amd the cheating bastards were equal top ( round 12 1988). The CB\s were up 5.6 to 1.4 at quarter time 7.12 - 4.10 at the long break andf we edged two points ahead at 3/4 time. Pym kicks three in the last , we kick 6.2 to 3.5 and beat the blues by 17 points on a cold friday night at the G.
Pym is playing his 5th game - he kicks up 16 kicks 6 marks and 11 handballs and kicks 3 goals 2.
Shows great signs that night and ends up having a 24 gane career.

I agree. He has looked very good down back v Cats and Saints. Love the way he is clean at ground level. Long time since we've had a tall back with that level of skill - could be a revelation down back.Really like this Kid! Just doesn't look like A 195cm player. I don't remember reiwoldt doing any more in his first year. He's a very similar player to Jack. Both are 195cm, both smart players, both good on either foot, both good leap and marks. Jack would have been no better playing half a dozen games by midseason as an 18 year old. We'll have 2 Reiwoldts and a Plugger with a couple of dangerous chocolate frogs crumbing for goals![]()
Chuck Taylor in there aswell and we could have a very damaging forward line.'why do we need to push jack away from being the main target? he is tall enough, almost strong enough, a great mark, and has proven that he can stand up as the number one target and perform. if he becomes the 3rd tall it will be because we have two even better forwards, which would probably mean we would have close to the best forward trio ever, given jacks development, age and likely improvement. the way i see how the 3 blokes can work together is this:
jack = lynch = full forward, stays near the goals taking the pack and 1 on 1 marks like he has been doing, since leading speed is probably his biggest flaw
ben = brown = bustling chf, fast agile with good hands and a big body, probably a bigger kick than jack
dave = bradshaw = swingman good enough to be main forward in his own right
or even have jack stay within 30m of goals, ben lead out to 50 from the square, and dave the roaming chf'
Why do we even need a main target?
Close to the best trio ever- Exactly
We want the best forward line. defense and midfield ever plus the ruck to win 10 premierships 180 -20 scoreline in each final and dominant the competition.
We are here to kick ass!! There is no compromise on performance when we chase the cup!!!
We we are up and firing it will be on all cylinders second best is not good enough!
dont really want to comment on the young talls for another couple seasons.
if post griffiths and astbury were playing full time at coburg atm you would not bat an eyelid. games they get now are bonuses and a ral boon to the club.
will say though i dont really see us playing all three as forwards. jack is not terribly quick and neither is astbury.
i really have a feeling and its just a feeling that griffiths will be developed as a ruckman/forward much in the ottens mould. or a bit like tippett at adelaide.
would not be surprised to see griffith spends time in the ruck this weekend.
just on the little i have seen of him i reckon he could be a damn good ruckman in the making.
