Anyone got any forecasts?

Overnight low of 10, climing to 16 in the afternoon, with isolated showers in between.

Back to the AUD/USD..

Now I'm not one to say I told you so, but it does give me some satisfaction to finally see parity with my own eyes. If I were to predict anything, it would be that the AUD/USD won't stay in a trading range of 0.98 - 1.02 for very long.

Major breakthroughs such as parity are usually followed by extended periods of volatility, and often with an accompanying significant long term move one way or another.

My money (literally) is on the AUD/USD climing higher, but we shall see.

Is it weird that I keep opening the xe iphone app and getting a weird sense of happiness from seeing 1.0015 and similar such numbers? :D

Something to do with the sounds of cash registers ringing inside your head? :)

Indeed. All our projections were done with a low 80's rate.

Above that it's just pure margin ... and it's been a busy few months :-)

You must be pretty happy?

Nothing like cream on top that you didn't have to lift a finger for!

You must be pretty happy?

Just about everything I am in has been going in the right direction for the past four months. Good times indeed.

Now waiting for the inevitable correction in all USD pairs, gold, etc.

Closed at 1.0049 after the Yanks pumped 600 million of QE.

Yanks haven't pumped anything yet.

THE US Federal Reserve has announced a bold plan to try to invigorate the economy by buying $US600 billion ($601.93 billion) more in Treasury bonds.

The Fed said it would buy the long-term Government bonds by the middle of 2011 to further drive down interest rates on mortgages and other debt.

Trading at 1.00931 as at 8:21pm. Will be interesting to see if it blows right throught 1.01 and starts heading towards 1.02.

Down to 99 cents this week from 102 cents last week.

**** the European stock market.

It dropped below parity to 99 cents, after topping nearly 102 cents. (101.7 to be precise).

This is melodramatic how?

It dropped below parity for about 20 mins.

It hasn't been above 1.01734.

So stating "down to 99 THIS WEEK from 102 LAST WEEK was hardly accurate. It was on overly dramatic suggestion that the AUD had dropped 3 cents in a week - which is just crap.

Adding the " **** the European stock market" turned it to melodrama...

Pretty simple I would have thought.

Hence my post. Its currently 1.002 ... this time last week it was 1.013...

its down a cent.... in a week ... nothing to see here ...

Now down to 98.5 cents. From 101.7 cents

Thanks to the Europeans.

Fair enough. Reporting actual facts rather than melodramatic bollocks is always preferred ... :)

The Irish issues are certainly causing some concern, which usually sees a flight from risk currencies (of which we are one) and towards the USD. I guess we shall see if this is anything more than a blip...
