Re: aussie's dopey f****** selectors

To be honest i would rather take the chance on Gilly than a player who hasnt played International cricket for a long time.
Yeah agreed. We need Haddin there though just in case.

I was just stirring the pot with gillyrulz. Its clear he has NFI

Re: aussie's dopey f****** selectors

And whats the chances of that. Whats his average in the last 12 months?

Who cares? No one notices averages any more, everyone likes to go on current form. Gilchrist has been up and down in recent times, but he's still the best option in the top-order for the World Cup, he needs to put in a few blinders for the team. If Gilchrist fails to score runs (god forbid); As a result, Australia will struggle to win the World Cup for the third consecutive time and Gilchrist could be on the brink of retirement.

Re: aussie's dopey f****** selectors

wat do u mean stiring the pot.............. i wanted gilly to be out for atleast a lil while... so haddin could be in the side.... and that way white wouldnt make it THANK GOD......and plus it would be good for haddin to play in a world cup but just will be upset in the 3rd match when gilly comes in and top scores

Re: World Cup Squad

of course he could...
the question is - is that the best option to Australia? Does it provide them with the right balance?
He hardly darts them in - they;re fairly innocous and on the small WI grounds would be definitely a target.

Not sure really, I suppose time will tell. Without Symonds, Hogg will play every game. If the pitches are going to be slow then Clarke gets overs anyway. Then the question becomes

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Clarke
Hodge
Hussey
Watson
Hogg
Lee
Bracken
McGrath

Looks one specialist bowler short unless Watson really stands up. Thats a big if, both form and fitness.

Symonds leaves a huge hole.

Re: World Cup Squad

agreed that the Symonds hole is a huge one to be filled....
Watson has to stand up and provide as close to 10 overs per game as he possibly he can - he's almost the most critical player now, becuase if he fails it leaves a massive gap in our batting line-up and increases the pressue on our other bowlers.

Re: World Cup Squad

I truly believe Clarke would get injured doing this. Hogg is a fantastic ODI player and hasnt done anything to suggest he is past it. Why the sudden "anti-Hoggness" from a lot of people?

I think you find its mostly from the Victorians who are upset that there boytoy White didn't make the team.

Not anti Hogg, I just believe there are better options. He will most likely play every game, so I hope he kills them.

Re: World Cup Squad

Cam White can thank Punter for not being on the trip. With Symmo out White was a moral for me. Bat him at 6 and let him go nuts on those tiny grounds. Hogg cannot hit over a jam tin and in two games did nothing to cause chaos in the middle overs. Great servant but time has past him by.

White / Clarke / Hodge and even Hussey could split 10-15 overs if required and you would have had Whites hitting at the end.

Tait was the right choice. Johnson is lucky IMO - has only been ave for me.

Re: Where's White?

Im just saying do you think the guy as soon as he plays only bout 8 odd 1INT games he should be making a average of 30+, i dont think so. I can remember when Symonds got selected for the world Cup about 2nd last one everyone was saying "why did he get selected" . For F*ck sake his only blo*dy young its just like a first yeaar AFL footballer, his not going to walk in to the side and get 25= possies and 3 goals. Its going to take time. Give him a break...

Very true. If Watson goes well and proves his all rounder status then the selection is easy.

Re: aussie's dopey f****** selectors

gillyrulz - the new bushranger only anti-victorian?
speaking of bushranger - I haven't seen him around in a while....is he banned?
thought he would have been on today revelling in Hodge's news

Re: aussie's dopey f****** selectors

Who cares?

Umm, I care? Anyone who supports Australia cares. The guy now fails more than he does well. You cant tell me Haddin would do worse at the top of the order? All we need from both openers is to be 0/60 (or 1/60) off 12. With Ponting (The best batter in the world), Hussey, Clarke and Hodge, we'll get 280+ every time.

Re: World Cup Squad

Fair enough but what are those beter options?

It depends on Watsons form. If he stands up then playing Hogg is the right mix. If he doesnt then I would prefer to see another specialist bowler and another specialist batsman and then the 5th bowler is the only concern, which I believe Clarke can fill. Wont happen though.

I agree that it does all fall on Watson, i dont think Clarke can physically bowl many overs. His back has always been a problem and with him pulling out of the NZ tour because of it i dont think he will be bowling in the world cup.

Didnt know that.(tells self to keep up with the news) Fair enough. Hoggs in:D

Re: aussie's dopey f****** selectors

gillyrulz- You are fast becoming the worst poster on this forum, even bushranger isn't as bad as you.
I also love it how people say, "Hodge wouldnt have the average he has if he didn't get a high score" that is the stupidest argument I have ever heard, take away every players high scores and the drop to the ********house.
The point is he has got good scores, end of story, anybody who tries t use it against him is a moron.

Forget about Watson. Will be injured in next three weeks. Overrated. Don't think he is in best 30 let alone best 15. Would rather Hopes before him.

Play McGrath, Lee, Bracken & Hogg and split rest of the overs between Clarke, Hussey, Hodge and then play another batsman.

Watson. Mediocre bat, ordinary bowler and average in the field. Leave im behind.
