I’m not sure why people are potting a bloke who is limited and came in and did as much if not more than a couple of blokes who have been given far far more of a ride than he ever has.

I wouldn’t drop Dawson this week and I would bring Pink in to play as the additional KPD.

Kallan is currently playing a role of foil for the fact we need to drive standards to more senior players who have not had such standards driven in forever.

But by all means cook the bloke for it.
Trust me, play him forward. He's a good kick for goal, which we're lacking, and he's also not frightened of leading, we're also lacking.

We've seen this group respond with honourable losses before only to down tools again at the first hint of expectation.
It may be harsh to say after going down by single digits at a ground we've never won at before, but there's a long way to go before I'll trust any results in isolation again.

Effort tally:
Port :whitecheck:
* :question:
Brisbane
Richmond
Collingwood

Bring the effort until the bye and win 1 or 2 of these and then I might start to believe.

Well, with what everyone has said, there is not a lot to add, yes we missed goals, so did they, first quarter lapse, costly, senior players making mistakes when under pressure, some senior players not playing as well as we know they can, our team structure, past/present/future, at the finish 9 points, umpires giving us the rub of the green when we in some games get reamed so badly its not funny {its about time we had a bit of help} and the fact we generally get slaughtered here in Adelaide and we had the chance to win is a positive and not a negative.

We are slowly getting better, yet at many stages of a game we make many mistakes, for the kids its a learning process, from the senior players it can be so frustrating, confidence is such a big factor in all this that many will/wont see it the way it is currently playing out. The game is over, now we must turn our attention to the Bombers in 5 days time, is it worth saying that the movie The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is occupying my mind at the moment!

But in closer review it may not be that black & white, I've said since the halfway point last year that this was going to happen, your going to see glimpses, good & bad, playing inconsistently and gelling and trusting your team mates as with the flow on effects of confidence and game play. There is still only the one game that is an outlier in all that time that makes no sense, Good Friday vs the blues, so the trajectory remains on cue even if it is slow, last couple of times we've played them {the bombers} we've been very unlucky, time to turn that around and put all the pressure on Essendon. :grinning:

While there were some awful lapses, I was happy to see some midfield changes and improvements to our setups.

Unfortunately those lapses and the lack of polish cost us the game. But it's better than the walkover we were the previous two weeks.

Less midfield time to Powell and Sheezel and more midfield time to Jy was a win. Blokes like LDU running decoy for Wardlaw is a good sign that it's being addressed behind closed doors.

I also thought the defenders we brought in made us better as a unit.

What shits me is that we've once again written off the same block of our season as in the previous four years. Not one win from R3-R8. Our best losing margin in that time until yesterday was something like 23 points. Our average losing margin in that time is something like 50 points.

Next week will be a marker of our ability to ****ing do something in this block. We're all so damn tired of waiting. We're tired of waiting full stop, but I'm really hating our total inability to keep things going in the wake of our annual R2 win

It's going to take a lot more than 1 or 2 wins over the next 5-6 weeks to get me trusting this team.

I need to see a sustained run of competitive football where we are in games until the end for 3-4 months... Minimum.

So I had a look at the full replay, and my first impression was that some of the vitriol and bile directed at individual players on this thread (and elsewhere) is way overblown. I understand people are frustrated and want to see results, but really? Was the effort not there? Plenty of skill errors (on both sides), but only Larkey having the first mare of his career (other than his debut!) and we'd have done the job.

Then with the aid of the expert analysis provided by Rick18 and Themanbun, the structural improvements are noteworthy, but my principal feeling was that this was the 'next gen' team - Archer and Hardeman on either HBF, George of course in the middle, FOS on a wing, Duursma looking the part as a marking target (in limited game time), Konstanty in the F50, McKercher at HFF and then you've got the more 'established' under 23s, Sheezel and Curtis.

Future looks alright to me.

Seven players 20 yo or younger.

That's nearly a third of the side.

As am I.

He missed two. The snap and the smothered set shot.

Dawson is 26/27. He gets not latitude. He’s VFL standard at best….

He missed a 10m snap being a smartass kicking the wrong side of the ball.

And one from the goal square kicking it into Comben on the mark.

Flattering.
Powell pepper kicked it into Comben, no?

2 goals.

He also took a whopping 10 marks, which was three more than any other player on the ground for either team.

But Kallan Dawson is not a #1 key defender type is he?

So why have a crack at him when he's being asked to do something that doesn't play to his strengths?

If you have an issue with Georgiadis' performance against us, you should be pointing the finger at the coaches.

Georgiadis took the majority of his shots from the car park. While Dawson might not be the best defender we have, forcing their best forward into the pockets -- and deep as **** into those pockets as well -- was a pretty good effort. Georgiadis is a good young player, kicked the goals from dangerous spots, but Kal by no means was disgraced with where he forced Georgiadis to play from

Be shocked if we get Maynard. He's just using us to get an acceptable deal from Pies.
Wouldn't want him anyway. I'd rather spend our money on developing over time what we have. There's no such thing as buying a premiership, it has to be developed and earned. Richmond tried for years until it finally dawned on them.

I’ll just say that not feeling ****ing miserable and no hope is a refreshing feeling this week, if they drop another 1-2 underperforming seniors this week I’ll be feeling pretty positive

Daniel / Tucker 1 or both and I’ll throw a party
