Top 5 well earn't - good to see 'Old Man' Haynes still polling well, however biggest surprise to me was the poor votes for Crapper who should have racked up a few to mid-season.
Congratulations TBP.
You put it on the line against the doubters all year and over recent days and your team produced the goods today to shut them out - thread maybe void of a few Snowdogies over the next 2 weeks - same as the OH boys after previous week.
The dual coaching effort I think may have forged a new scenario in VAFA footy especially when they gell like your boys did today.
End of the day, just a dominate display in a high grade of VAFA footy and the icing on the cake will come in 2 weeks no problems there.
Old East Keilor Grammar: D Grade to A Grade = ZERO FLAGS!
Enough said!
The one thing that stood out for me watching today's B Section Grand Final was the extreme pressure Marcellin put Old Essendon under. The Eagles stuck to their gameplan and it worked well for them. Also the fact was that Marcellin used the windy conditions a lot better than what the Bombers did, especially in the 3rd quarter. In fact, when the Bombers made a belated comeback in the last quarter Marcellin had Old Essendon under control. I wonder, how would Marcellin & Old Essendon go in A Section in 2009?
Have your day all you armchair critics,OEG will be competitive in A. section and whether you like it or not we are in A section.Congratulations to marc. you won it fair and square,by far the best side on the day.You shut down all the OEG stars, well planned and i have no problems with the result.
Again the wind ruined a good game of footy,Umpires average to both sides,Marc got their frees in front of goal, stiff for us. The little blond bloke seemed rattled after the blu, overeacted against the oeg.
It does not matter how you climb the mountain as long as you get there and you do it fair and square.Apart from the twos winning the gf the only redeeming feature is seeing all the snipers still in B section.
Merts,
I still believe OEG have the talent to mix it in A Grade, but this failure raises the perennial question about their mental toughness and the coaching staff?
Haileyb and Bernards went in clearly below their best with injuries and ommissions of key players but OEG went in with their best and fresh from the break? Sure they got a couple injured during the game but the glaring problem was that they were out coached.
How could the OEG coaches not have seen the dangers of playing Marc in the wind the week before. Coaches panicked and lost the unlosable.
You might say flags dont matter but that is what every club in the country plays for - no one looks at photos of runners up or has has reunions for losing
Everybody at oeg must take responsibity of a lost chance that is going hard to repeat in the short term.
Marc.played the conditions far better, with wind they kicked it long and quick, time and again and got crucial goals, Grammar played as if there was no wind, short pass after shortpass, pressure on them all the time.
Skurrie etc found the wind impossible and were teamed by punching backs.
OEG all year slaughtered sides when they had the wind, yesterday all that went out window! This one hurt, really hurt. This one hurts because we had the side to do it,make no mistake.
To Marc,I admire you guts and determination,to the bloke with the dread locks id go to war with you anyday.Look forward to beating you in A section.Congatualations to your club, well done.

Merton, I'm assuming you think it is the honourable thing to continue posting and not dissapear off this forum just because you lost. But honestly pal, do yourself a favour, with every post you write the agony that is going to be with you all summer comes through. You can pretend that all is not lost because your going into A section and you'll be really competative and blah blah blah, but in reality that doesnt make it hurt any less. You and the club are in for another haunted summer, come November/December when every one has moved on, you will still have moments where you think about the game and what you could of done differently. I expect a long winded reply from yourself rebutting everything I have said, but all that will do is re-affirm to me and everyone else here how terrible you feel and will feel for a while.
