Ballarat sucked mate

Only played the Deep Freeze Sunday, raised big with queens on the button and bloke in the small blind still called with 6s and hit the flop and there I was too pot committed thinking it was a safe board after he checked to me 🤦

6 max afterwards was a waste of time, went to my regular Sunday night game afterwards and had my best game for the week there...
 
Another what would you do post

Not my hand but on my left

Blinds are 4/8k but it doesnt really matter but its more an indication why its a heads up pot

Middle position bets and button re-raises to 20k and everyone gets out except MP

Flop is AQJ - MP bets Button calls

Turn is junk and check check

River is a K and MP bets 20k

What do you do as Button with AK?

EDIT: MP has approximately another 60k behind them and Button has 55k

Played the Jackstar at Albury. On the bubble we went hand for hand for 13 hands before looking like we were going to get an elimination of an all-in player with AJ vs a bigger stack with AK. Miracle J on the river and they survive. Next hand there is a raise to 200K, I have 260K with 99. Confident I am ahead, I rip and the player who should have been out the previous hand wakes up with KK and re-shoves. Original raiser, who it happens had 88, folds and I end up bubbling.

Poker is a cruel mistress.

🤔 Hard one...

I'm button what am I doing 🤔

MP calls the 3bet instead of 4bet/shove 🤔
So doesn't have AA,KK,QQ ect

MP bets flop so hit something.. checks turn 🤔 maybe setting the trap? Maybe worried about what the button has.

Bets 20k on the river... Value bet? Or buying the pot representing the straight?

I have 55k pot is 85k? 😐

What do they have Ax Kx? (But with AK less chance they have an A or K) Maybe the 10?
Could be pockets (jacks?) but I would continue to build pot. be worried about the straight coming in if I had anything like that. 🤔

I would try to get a read on the person.(Not that I'm overly good with reading a person) or if I've played with the person alot I would have a better idea of there range. Would help with call/fold.

AK prob in trouble here...

Safest thing is to fold. Not necessarily the right thing to do 🤔

Prob fold. High chance they have the straight.

I would have at best just called their bet of 20k - if they have the straight then so be it. They didnt shove so its either a trap I can afford or they didnt and I am good

But the Button shoved and I nearly fell out of my seat because I had had a look at their cards - I dont even think a shove is ever on the table here

But when the MP tanked for a minute I knew the button was good and MP eventually called with AJ

Something wrong with your blinds or bet sizes here. Button re-raise would have to be more than 20k at 4/8 so either blinds are wrong or MP limped (which changes a lot about their range).

I would call.
Very strange line to donk bet wet flop, check blank turn, bet river when straight hits. No hand with a T makes sense but betting without a T makes no sense either.

I just felt there was too much to shove - like you I would have at least called

The did the same 2 weeks previously when the same (MP) player raised their (button) 6k river bet to 20k with 55A - 7 - Q - button shoves and gets snap called with a 5 to their AQ

Just call the 20k and find out.

Why are they raising?
 
Maybe its just me but if I get bluffed off a pot then so be it. Any risk assessment - which is part of poker - is understanding when you may be behind

I know its exploitable which is why a call is preferrable than raising

I'm getting screwed over with premiums time and time again last 2 weeks by

I raise big UTG+1 with AK suited

Nearly whole table calls, I hit top top, flush draw out there though

All in from short stacked loose player in the BB and call before me from tight UTG player ffs.... I call, have 10k behind me, get what I perceive as a safe turn card, shove get called, then get done on the river

Tight player has the flush draw and gets there by making running two pair and I'm getting out my 20 bucks for a rebuy

Another one, running card dead and only 60k, 10-20kbbs, min raise early position 40k other card dead bloke next to me calls, I have AQ on the cutoff fffffsssssss, I can't jam here as they'll all call, I needed at least 120k or so I see the flop, BB called here also, AK2 two hearts, have Qh here, raiser bets 45k, short stack and me are both all in, short stack thought it was a great time to come in with 35h and gets there on the turn and the 4 liner that I need bricks....


Then my pocket kings are just never holding when I get them...just gotta play more higher IQ games I guess...
 
Tournament in Reynella - win the button

Blinds are 1/2k and I am behind the button with 26k and AJ

Folds to me and I shove knowing button big stack will call with anything ie 92 previously and he does

But this time he has a hand TT ok and feeling ok when the J hits the flop but knew the 10 was coming on the river and it does

My Main Event ended the way most have - on the river

I had sat with this player the day before and all in all I had a good experience with him but I found his range a bit wide - he is someone who I would describe as an elderly excitable Mediterranean gentleman - but as noted my experience this time was fine

He started the day with a little more than me and doubled up with a rivered straight on an AK v AJ run-out to the J - so I was warned

The table was broken up and he was on my table again

Through blinds antes and general lets look at the flop I am down to 145k - not in trouble but certainly a good pot would help

I look down at AQ UTG2 and take a moment to assess a shove or raise - I decide to shove and take the blinds and antes and go again

BB tanks for a few minutes and counts his stack and due to the double up decides he has enough to call with AT

And yes with nothing over 9 gets his Ten on the river

Play the Monster Stack satellite and have a good run and we are down to the bubble with 120k when I get the tap on the shoulder to move seats

I move and as I do I hear - well not really hear '' yes this table have dealt up so we have to wait ''

I really didnt pay much attention - my fault - and I not only sit down but find I have to chuck in 10k for BB - it folds to SB who I found out is so tight he would float if thrown over board

With all the excitement he shoves in the SB for 48k and I look at AJ and in the rush I call - he turns over AK - ahh

If I was more game aware I would have cold folded without looking as the chatter was for Final Table and I could have saved 50k - grrr

As it was I squeaked through

Playing the Monster Stack - well not so monstery but ok - I am bobbing along neither winning big nor losing chips and watching the same guy fold everything including his 4/4 ante to a min click raise - and shoving AK

I look down at 77 and decide this could be it - the same tight player pushes in 14k on a 2.5/5/5 level - assessing this I think he could be a small pocket pair and wants a cheap finish

Because of his tight nature and because I have 77 I decide to bully with my stack and I shove - he laughs and says like the worst movie villain '' haha you fell into my trap '' and rolls over AA

Still alive but dead when no 7 hits

Pre-flop, KK is cutoff and opens to 3200, I raise to 10.2K from the button, SB Shoves, CO re-shoves and I call.
 
4 Hands tonight that propelled me to Final Table

First is AQ early blinds 100/200 or 200/400 ehh

UTG raises to 1500 - I call and BB defends - flop is 79T

UTG puts out 6k and I put him on an overpair and pay to see an A

Instead we see an 8 - another 6k another call. As I said its early and we have 50k each

River is the golden J - he bets 6k and I jam hoping he has JJ

He tanks and says '' Pocket Qs or you are bluffing - I fold my KK ''

2nd was JJ 400/800 in the big blind limps to me so I raise to 5k get 2 callers - button (loosy goosy ) and SB (fairly nitty)

Flop is 592 - I bet 5k call and call

Turn is a T and I figure the pot is big enough and I dont want a big card to come out if they want to pay to see the next card lets make it big - I jam 48k

Both call!!! To be fair this was before rebuys

Button has K9 - told you he was loosy goosy and button had the flush draw

Nothing on the river and I near enough triple up
 
Next one is AA on the button - rebuys are over and its 1/2k blinds

UTG raises to 5k folds to me and I make it 20k - lets see how big he has

Blinds fold and he calls - ok could be anything but lets assume KK/QQ/JJ

Flop is T92 and yes he could have a TT but he checks - I put a pot size bet in and he tanks for 2 minutes then turns his KK face up and I show AA - everyone says great fold blah blah and someone does a run out with an A on the Turn and a K on the river - table roared as the full impact hits him

Late in the piece with 12 left I have 99 - I had 99 hand before but folded them to a shove and a call

This time its a 5/10k blinds and a 25k bet 4 callers 100k in the pot

Flop is 8TJ - I check and checks to big stack who jams - uggh

I tank for 2 minutes and I figure ( new attitude) if I'm gonna make final table these are the hands I need to call - I call

He has 9T - ok

Turn is crud but the River 7 takes it to a chop

While it didnt chip me up - except the 2 x 25k plus SB - it helped me escape the Blinds for another orbit where I doubled up with AT v 77 - T on the river
 
Last few days of this absolutely garbage season

Changing it up big time next season, avoiding all bogey games and only plan on having Saturdays as my late night of the week (not playing anything else that runs after 1130), still don't think I'm playing badly, getting donked a few times

Last couple of Tuesdays I've ran into queens at the crunch also, came 2 off the money there twice after those queens KOd me
 
Ever had a night when everything fell into place?

I just did - one of the few times I have been in the zone of knowing what to do combined with getting the cards

Final table A7 about 140k blinds 10/20k and I am in the SB

Min click by middle position - loose aggressive who at this stage is chip leader - I call as does BB

Flop is 6A8 - ok lets see - raiser bets 20k - ok call call

Turn is a J - check all round - knowing MP likes to take advantage I figured a J wasnt in his hand and developed an idea - BB is as tight as MP is loose

River is another 6 and I check as does BB and MP puts out 35k - and this is where my night kicked in

I jammed my last 105k saying '' if I'm going to win this is it '' - BB crying folds and MP goes over every hand I dont and lands on trip 6s and folds

I showed the A7 and BB cries saying he had the same cards

Thats when everything clicked - its a rare feeling for me
 
I then had 67diamonds in the BB and call a min raise - flop is 66Q :D I check

Loose Aggressive puts out 60k I shove again - this was part of a strategy I had developed against this player - anytime he raised and I had cards I re-raised him - this time he folded again

Another orbit 39s in the BB and again a min click I call - flop is 9d and 2 spades - nice check - button bets 30k (blind) I call as does LAG - turn is the moneymaker spade - check check LAG bets 60k - fold by button I shove and this time I get what I want and they call with KT red ????

Leaves them with approx 90k - I look down at 22 and min raise to 60k and they shove - everyone folds and I call and they have K5 - and the 2s hold

Folded AJ against a shove - I didnt have to risk it - they showed KQs - still happy with the fold
