Tuned into the last quarter - cracker of a game from a neutral POV.

Went for you guys, Dons pinched it but you can hold your heads high.

I like Daniher, bummer way to go out.

Anyone who trolls the efforts of your players tonight is an utter knob.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Cheers

Highlighted Daniher's career, close but didn't quite get there a rollercoster ride, lacking good tactics (first quarter) and highlighted the season with Neitz and Robbo not right and injuries Bell.

What a heartbreaker. Gees I wished the Dees would have kicked just one more straight (to point out the bleedin' obvious).
At least your guys showed some fight and determination tonight. What I wouldn't give for the Swannies to find 1/4 of that!
Here's hoping you can cause a few upsets for the rest of the year.

Well done guys, you completely deserved to barely lose that match.

Ps. Seriously, you really deserved to win it. Essendon really annoy me with their pathetic catch up classes. Bad luck.

I never thought i'd be cheering for a side other than the Dogs like I did the Dees tonight. Am a fan of Danihers and wanted him to go out in a way that he deserved. Bad luck guys
On a positve note I thought that Newton looked really good. He made a few errors in the big moments but has all the signs of a quality player in the making. Just wondering what you Demon supporters think of him?

Ah crap, what a game, yep it sure does sum up Daniher's reign and also the 2007 season so far. So many what if's; Bruce getting legged, if only we had converted, if only Dog had at least tried to get it out. I seriously cant take much more of these close losses, especially when ur sitting in amongst a jungle of Dons supporters.:(:thumbsd:

We really rate him and he is a big part of our future, not an easy debut on Fletcher and he tried hard and did the one percenters, very unselfish as well. Made a meal of that mark but can't blame him for being nervous, and he followed it up really well, got the ball and kicked it beautifully.

I feel your pain. Just think man, in 3 years time, Richmond & Melbourne will be up in the top 4!

Thanks DR and others. Gotta hate football sometimes. Had to be against ****ing essendon.

I had a bad feeling that was going to happen as soon as Bruce didn't get that call.

Essendon have won in that scenario a few times this year. Ripper of a game though.

Can I get that guaranteed?
you can quote me ;) We are both in prime position with the draft (im not a fan of draft, but either way we are either gunna get #1 or #2, and both are good kids)

Melbourne will move up the ladder, just as i feel the Tigers will (i know biased opinion) We both have some good young players in our squads, and as much as essendon love tonight, i cant see them being very high come two years time.

Thought you guys had it won tonight when Davey kicked that goal. Bad luck, hopefully you can upset some teams on the way home and make it easier for us and it was a pity ND couldn't go out on a win, seems to be a really good bloke and will be a hard guy to replace.

After quarter time Melbourne played some really good footy and scared the absolute crap out of me for the better part of the rest of the game.

I won't offer sympathy because I doubt it would go down well. We were lucky to escape with a win and although I'm glad to have the four points I am also acutely aware it could easily have gone the other way.

Melbourne have a better team than this year's win-loss record suggests and I have a certain empathy with that after last year, when our statistical finish looked worse than I thought our team deserved.

I have read the main board bickering and I'm not interested in being part of it. No matter what Neale Daniher's legacy is in years to come, I have always been a fan and I am sad to see his term with Melbourne end in the manner it has. Good luck to the Demons in their future with whoever the new permanent coach will be.

I agree with the fight and determination although it takes four quarters and its just so dissapointing that they couldnt play the whole four. Thought the umpiring didnt help much.

I was so angry on the way home one absoulte dons w***er called up and stating how bad of a captain Neitz was for nto kciking those goals in the last quarter.

It just upset me cause I am so proud of David Neitz for him to be out there on one leg still kick 3 goals in the first place is such an effort. By the last quarter he couldn't even kick 30 metres yet still he kept on presenting and tired to get the win. It was visibile that he was in pain.

I don't think the big fella will play next week, give him a rest so his 300 can be played on the G

We were robbed by the maggots.

I am sick of these overpaid incompetent whistle blowers ****ing eveything up.
Completely agree. You guys got ripped a new one last night by those clowns. Hird is untouchable. From an unbiased (sort of, I was going for Melbourne) point of view, the first half was one of the most blatantly pathetic umpiring displays I have ever seen.
Seems the hands in the back rule doesn't apply for Essendon.
