Re: Coughlan Out For The Year

I didnt want to believe it..... now that it is confirmed its so bloody sad for the poor guy. he was such a talent and yet he has hardly been on the park. he was my favourite player and i only hope he can come back next year.... it would be such a shame if he was never to come back

Re: Coughlan Out For The Year

My heart's not really in this, but here's an attempt at positive spin. His body has consistently broken down from the rigours of the way he plays, maybe two full years out will mean he gets over the OP etc and comes back fully fit. He's never relied on pace either. He's only 24, nearly 25. I hope he can get back.

Re: Coughlan Out For The Year

To early for all this doom about him being finished. Plenty of players have come back from these types of injuries Darcy springs to mind and he's 30-31 coughs is only 25.

Re: Coughlan Out For The Year

Will he sue the club? Training at a patchwork quilt ground at Vic Park is a disgrace and l can see him and perhaps Thursfield and Simmonds after all three have been injured at this ground that suburban teams would not train at

Simmo did his ankle at Gosch's paddock, Thursty his knee at Telstra Dome and Cogs his knee originally at York Park and currently the squad is down at Phillip Island for the community camp.

get your facts right, Thursfield has had a knee arthroscope due to hard training rounds( IE VIC PARK) and Coughlan hurt his knee last Friday at guess where? ( VIC PARK AGAIN) Now do you get it? Simmonds that was probably at Vic Park as well, not sure though

HAHA It's funny because bee dee said "get your facts right" This coming from the guy who has a 10% strike rate.

Unfortunately cogs is just one of so many footballers that get cut down in their prime because of constant injuries.. I feel bad for the guy..

Yeah if you stick your neck out make sure it is right.

I say this hoping i was wrong but was fairly sure i was right - I guess the people at the club were told not to go public until all official - understandable .

Richmond has been dealt a massive blow on the eve of the 2007 season with star midfielder Mark Coughlan set to undergo a knee reconstruction and miss the entire year.

Coughlan had a knee reconstruction after damaging his ACL during the round 12 clash against Hawthorn in Launceston last year, but the graft failed to heal satisfactorily, meaning further surgery is required.

The operation will take place in the next two weeks.

Coughlan has endured a torrid time on the injury front. The 24-year-old had his 2004 season destroyed by osteitis pubis, but he bounced back superbly in 2005 and the first half of last season before the injury against the Hawks.

I loved the guy when he first started and Wallace placed all that workload on him.....
but the RFC has to plan ahead now....
call me a f@#wit, but we've seen what happens to 'injury pet projects'
like Dragga and Duncan K...(we cross our fingers and hope they come good)
And we lose time and a new spot for a new kid.
It's the same old deal...
Once susceptible....how can you put in the time & expense over & over?

Cogs could have been anything, but injuries ruin some players careers...
(fact of life)

If we going to be successful, we have to assume the hard cold eye of
succesful teams...

For twenty old years now Richmond has carried fringe players, injured players,
crocks, wanna-bees, 3rd grade players, and also rans..

Coggy's injury opens up the door for another young guy...

And we move on to Season 2007...

yep, the club must move on and unearth someone who can take his place. we must accept the fact that he may never be back.

Not having a crack but I also raised the issue of trading Cogs over draft time and had rocks thrown at me LMAO

I love Cogs but I tend to agree that some players are just injury prone, Cogs is one of them. Nothing we can do about it, but I would say Mark's shining star has well and truely faded now.

I Feel sorry for the guy but the truth is he will never be the same.

P.S. Delibrate it wasnt Wallace who ran him into the ground it was ***** Frawley, we had no one else to help Cogs out and Danny ****wit stuffed his groin, he was finally starting to improve under Wallace and did his knee. :thumbsd:

LOL

I was watching training at Gosch's paddock when Simmo did his ankle. Miller said today Cogs initially redid it slipping in the shower. He did his knee the first time down in Tassie. Thursty did his knee at the Dome when Lenny Hayes in the act of play slid into his leg.

Just when you think everything is going along nicely.............BANG! The Richmond curse kicks in

I have just returned from a relaxing week on the Gold Coast and this is what i come home too. Not ********in happy.

Only thing that can be taken out of this is Cam Howat will get promoted. I am absolutely shattered for Cogs though. Rough as guts in the middle, but just can't get out on the park

He'll be back... I don't know Coughlan all that well- but if Darce can come back after 24 months as a 31 year old, a 25 year old with his talent can too.
