There's no doubt in my mind that I could get back playing at that level," Barlow said. "That injury that I went through, it's something that I'll never see again, hopefully.
"If you go out with the mindset that it's going to happen (again), or worrying where your leg's going to land ... you're really behind the the eight-ball from the start and you're not going to give yourself the best chance."

The only thing I expect from Barlow tomorrow is to come out of the game Injury free. Anything else is a bonus at the moment.

Expectations shouldn't be too high. But I'm quietly confident he'll come out and kill it :thumbsu:

Tomorrow will be the start of either Humpty Dumpty or the Ugly Duckling.
Hopefully it'll be the Ugly Duckling.

It's huge the impact he's had on levels of our Club. I'll probably get a little bit misty eyed when he gets his first touch.

Don't have any expectations on him for this season, but gee it is such a bright moment on what seems like a dark season so far (injury wise).

Not gonna accept anything less than 44 possessions, 4 goals and 4 Brownlow votes. Maybe 40 if it's wet (what's the forecast btw?)

Great read, brought a wee tear to my eye!

Micky's friends and family are going to fill up 3/4 of the G it seems!!

;););)

Hall made the trip to Melbourne for today's game with Barlow's brother Declan, joining an entourage of family and friends at the MCG.
Even the Shepparton United under-14s will be there after the coach bought tickets for the team at the start of the year, proudly predicting the match would be Barlow's comeback game.
"He'll want to play good for everyone going down and I reckon it'll be a bit of a boost for him to know there's so many people going to support him," Hall said

Oh dear, just reading this thread has me in tears. What am I going to be like when I see him run onto the field on the tv?

My husband will think I've finally gone totally football crazy when he sees me balling my eyes out watching AFL!

Can't wait to see him back out there today at the G, thought he was at least as good as any mid for the year until the unfortunate happened. Love his inside/outside work and if I remember correctly, actually went forward and kicked multiple goals in the few weeks leading up to the injury.

Join the club, sniff!!

Lots of love for this guy....if only I were a few years younger...;)

I (like everyone else) loved watching Barlow last year, and I am hoping with everything I've got that he gets through today unscathed (and has a great game to boot!)

Good luck Michael.

I am probably going to get slammed, but Im gonna say it... Barlow was a bit of a selfish player today.... Yes I know he can be he is a great player BUT it was his first game back and he looked to be caught for some pace and should've recognized his weakness there.

Love the guy to bits, but... should've passed the ball not gone for the miraculous goal etc.

Not the only one who played selfishly today, however just saying could've done the team thing a few times today rather than try and be the hero...

Understand we were pathetic as a team in general today and perhaps he was trying to take the bull by the horns and lift the team.

Just saying that was my observations from being at the game.

Fair enough if you were at the game, you would have had a good view. But pass it to who? JVB, Crichton, Hinkley?:o

Barlow was good, it was just the speed of the game that he had seemed to forget at times.

He'll be fine. Good game Micky, glad your back!
