Multiplat Battlefield 4

Ultimate Team packs type system.

Unfortunately they're VERY addictive.

They are vulgar. They have no attachment to the gameplay at all other than to lock you out and drip feed you what you already paid for. It will mean BF4 will take even longer to unlock a class of weapons (I'll bet you anything in BF5 they will have more than 2 sides so they can squeeze even more unlocks in). They will stretch it and make it unreasonable to frustrate the gamer who will be tempted to spend money on these packs and they'll keep breaking the game up and expanding the unlocks in order for them to have the largest possible shot at squeezing some extra money out of the player.

I can handle the idea behind it somewhat in a f2p game. But a full-price game? These ****s are just going to keep on redefining what is acceptable as a practice until people stop buying their games. The Xbox 1 is facing a huge media backlash right now; of course, most of the arse-kissing games journo's have meekly sat by and kept their mouths shut, but the real journo's of this world; the one's that don't get paid and lavished with free games and weekend retreats to come preview the games... they are picking up on Microsoft's arrogance and its become a big problem. Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, BBC are all onto this. EA would want to tread carefully because the current climate is not one in which you want to blatantly **** with your customers in this manner.

He mad. Go play COD to sooth your soul.

If it's the same as in BC2 and BF3 where you can just unlock everything with a simple purchase then it doesn't really bother me. Half the fun is getting the unlocks.
It's not that.

These will work like the system in Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer. By offering you special boosts, potentially weapons, armour, vehicles etc. for 1-however many games (likely 1-3 or so) via purchasing these packs using either real money or the in-game currency upon which you get a randomised selection of those boosts (guessing 3 for Bronze, 4 for Silver, 5 for Gold - likely premium packs offering more boosts as well).

The whole, unlock everything by paying cash will still be a thing too. But the above is more something that can affect the balancing in the game.

I don't think its such a big deal in Mass Effect 3 because the game is co-op and they provided free maps. In a round-about way, the unlocks could be seen as funding on-going content, though the random element of not knowing what you are buying was deplorable. A full price multi-player game with payed map-packs should not have this garbage imbedded into it, especially when it hurts game balance like unlocks always do.

You missed the best one...

These unlocks can be bought with in-game currency, though that is little consolation to me. "AAA" gaming is moving in one direction, and that's butchering game balance so that these greedy, scumbag publishers can chop-up as much content as possible and sell you what's already on your hard-disk over and over again. You don't even know what you are buying, btw. It's a "lucky dip" style system.

I will not be purchasing.

Mate that's a fair rant based on nothing.

Looks more like 66000 xp will unlock this battlepack, not Paypal, or any form of in game currency.

Take at look at this pic: silver battlepack is an upcoming unlock...

Personally I'm outraged that recon's don't have arms and shoot weapons with their feet...

That doesn't mean anything.

You will be given free packs for getting to level X, just as they give out free packs in FIFA for winning a season.

EA have said they'll have micro-transactions in every game they produce, these packs are the exact same formula as they've had in Ultimate Team, Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3.

And they will be in BF4.
Only posting this boring pic as proof or 24 slot server.

Therefore 12 v 12.
They're XBOX 360 images.

Dafuq is wrong with you?
FMGPR said it will cost money. I refuted such claims by proving it is an unlock for reaching a certain xp level.

The point is that any multiple of the 5 man squad will not fit into any of the known server sizes, 24, 32, 48, 64.

And I'm also saying it will cost money.

You will get A pack for reaching a certain level, but you will be able to get MORE packs via some form of XP exchange, in-game currency exchange or monetary exchange.

What don't you get in this? You didn't prove that it will be unlocks, you proved that there will be a version that you can unlock for getting to level X. But you will indeed be able to purchase them too, because it's EA and this is their system.

I'm with this line of thinking atm until we get some more info directly from EA themselves.

The only difference i can see from BF3's current system is not having to play a certain gun/class to unlock a certain attachment/weapon and instead of getting 1 unlock per level you get a pack of unlocks, most of it probably being cosmetic shit like camos & double xp.

No doubt bronze packs would be for a set amount of levels, then it moves to silver for the next lot, then gold. Higher levels having access to more gear and weapons.....its not new for FPS games.

Thats my opinion currently, until EA/DICE spill the finer details.

I'd wait till E3 tbh, no proof of any type of money/xp exchange for packs as of yet. The pic clearly has the xp required to unlock the bronze pack.

Nothing is announced; I'll admit that. But these shitty unlocks will be able to be purchased with real money, and because they can be purchased with real money, you will see a slow-down in unlock progress in order to promote these sold 'short-cuts'. I also think that you will see even more game elements become broken down into a series of unlocks. I'll cancel my BF account and never post again if it doesn't, that's how sure I am. There is no reason at all for them to make these 'unlock boxes' random (just like ME3) if not to get people to spend money on them again and again.

For what its worth, I don't care about cosmetic unlocks; that's what progression should be all about in my eyes. Rewards players with unique characters and personalised traits. Just leave the weapon attachments, new weapons, scopes, grenades, knives etc out of it.

Knives are cosmetic in BF though. Weapon attachments the only thing with in game use but without knowing the specifics that could also be cosmetic shit like fancy reticles on scopes and what not.

I know EA did say they'd have micro transactions in all of their games from now on but it wasn't game breaking and a required purchase in Dead Space 3 and i dont see it being any different in this tbh.*

*if micro transactions are confirmed

64 player next-gen console matches confirmed, 60fps as well confirmed.

MP footage below, watch for the incredible ending!

That isn't multiplayer that is more single player staged if anything.

Amazing when the tank came down after the pillar was destroyed. Building collapse looked great and the ability to reverse the knifer and knife them! Don't know what to make of the tomahawk thing or how it works. Definitely do not want it COD style.

God I hate those scripted multiplayer trailers with a complete noob playing as the showpiece!

That map seemed huge, will be shit on current gen. I laughed at the elevator, some funny shit will happen in that.

I also love the anti picko feature, it's great they listened to our feedback
