Multiplat Battlefield 4

God I hate those scripted multiplayer trailers with a complete noob playing as the showpiece!

That map seemed huge, will be shit on current gen. I laughed at the elevator, some funny shit will happen in that.

I also love the anti picko feature, it's great they listened to our feedback

So you must buy a PS4.

I am just blown away that they have included Shanghai Tower which is currently under construction and won't be completed until 2014. In the game they have depicted what it will look like completed. That's some forward thinking shit right there!!

Not sold on Commander mode, seems a tad boring

Not sure about Commander.

I don't like the idea of me cruising along then BAM!, tomahawk missile all up in my grill.

I probably will, but EB can suck the fat one. I will get mine from like BigW or JB post release and I will buy BF4 online from the states or something.

Yeah hopefully they don't go overboard with that. Commander mode should be about giving instructions, deciding troop movements, instructing your squad leader and soldiers about the enemies movement and on occasion, having a weapon to slow the enemy advance and drain his/her tickets. It should basically be Red Orchestra 2's and give the game some real structure as BF3's randomness was a real downside to it, imo.

What I didn't like at all was seeing some chick laid back on a couch playing on her tablet. Why the **** isn't she barking orders into the thing? Why isn't her character represented on the ground so the enemy can find her and disable her commander traits while she respawns and (like in RO2) find a communications device?

It will make the game better, of that I have no doubt. I just hope they aren't making it so 'everyone gets to play commander'. I want it to take a specific skill set. When you play a game and have a great commander it should improve the game immensely. I'm just not convinced that is what they are going for.

**** the commander I roll how I want and where I want...

Yea they should make it so your able to kill the commanders communications, if not they surely only have a limited amount of times missiles can be used (once for my liking)

Commander is back from BF2.

From all reports it added and extra depth to the game and a good commander could really influence the outcome of a round. Shit commanders can be voted out by the team.

Never tried it, keen to see if it works or not...

I didn't play too much of BF2 or enough of 2142, but commander in Red Orchestra 2 is incredibly satisfying when the player is good at the job. When he/she isn't, its much harder to have fun, especially when you are being pounded with artillery from the opposite sides commander. Getting orders to flank into pincer movements and pushing forward via coordinated smoke grenades, setting up the other team by fighting in a specific area and then everyone rushing back at the right moment when told to, leaving the enemy decimated from a well placed artillery and then going back in to capture the point etc. are all very satisfying and are the kinds of things DICE should be aiming to replicate. That kind of experienced can't be replicated by pushing buttons on a tablet, though. You need to be in charge and giving instructions with your voice.

So you have to obey the commander? I don't get it?

No. You score more points for doing actions of a team based nature, generally, like killing enemies inside your cap zone or inside theirs, or killing enemies with your squad leader close by as opposed to normal kills. At least I'm assuming they will work it something like that. It'll make the side your on actually feel like a team instead of random squads without any real link like BC2/BF3.

I'm sure Commander is not limited to tablet.

PC will obviously have PC with tablet as an option....
However..
Tablet would probably be more intuitive than console sticks.

Wait and see what in-game VOIP options (& quality) we're given...

I'm sure there will be voice; I was more alluding to the way they presented it as this laid back, casual experience, when I don't think it should really be that at all. Theoretically you could make it work and still have voice chat over tablet, though I still don't like the commander not being in the field. But you're right; its too early to tell yet.
