Multiplat Battlefield 6 (release Oct 10th 2025)

First one I've played since B1 which I still play to this day. Struggled is an understatement. Felt like Cod with tanks. Maps available felt very exposed. Shot in the ass a lot and must have been permanently spotted because I was getting pummeled even while trying to stay out of sight. The loadout options also seem so cluttered, the complete opposite of 1 which was super simple to navigate.
Far be it for me to say what a good or traditional BF experience should look like, have only really dabbled in the franchise over the years. Not so arrogant as to pass that judgment ignorantly but as someone who has owned every cod since cod4 this is nothing like that. This beta is completely foreign to me.

This is trash. Maybe I'm getting too old for video games but I couldn't see shit. Everything is the same colour in the street maps. Everyone had kill stats of like 30 kills 30 deaths. Constantly dying and instantly respawning. Dunno if that's a too small of map thing
It's almost like the military uses camouflage on their gear and vehicles.......

Related to camouflage but unrelated to BF6, a bloke I used to know got a paid medical discharge from the army. He was stuffing around and tripped over an artillery piece and fell down a short cliff. The army took it court that he shouldn't be compensated due to it being his fault for not being careful and how do you not see an artillery gun. His lawyer then stated it was camouflaged and he won.

Seems pretty good so far, there's a few tweaks I wouldn't mind but they're not showstoppers. The UI around picking classes and weapons isn't great, maybe it'll just take some getting used to but I find myself moving in and out of the wrong sections. I wouldn't mind a change around fixing vehicles, it seems a little too easy to keep a vehicle going while it's getting hit.

Apart from that it seems fairly balanced so far, I like that they took the scope glint from Battlebit which will make life more difficult for campers. I was playing around with sniping last night and you definitely need to pick your spots and timing when you use the scope, and stay mobile. Shotguns are fun and the fact assault gets a 3rd weapon as a "gadget" is cool, I might actually use the class now instead of the medic/support classes I usually use.

Other than that it's definitely a Battlefield game, I guess the next step is to work out whether the Phantom Edition is worth it.

Game is fun the TTK is insane. Feels like when someone shoots their first bullets, all their following bullets are already traveling with it.

Feel the same way. Loved BF3, Loved Battlefield 1. Find it hard to distinguish what's happening.

I'll keep at it, hopefully it'll click soon.

I'm fine with the TTK personally, it means you have to work as a team and revive your team mates instead of lone-wolfing. If the revive function didn't exist then yeah the TTK could be toned down.

Unless we're talking about something different this has been in the game since at least BF3.

When I first sat down and played this on Thursday nighr I found to be quite difficult to enjoy. I was getting lost in the visuals and dying at such a rapid rate that it was not at all fun.
I’ve never been a great map watcher and I feel like this game really relies on you to keep a good eye on the map because the TTK is so low. I also have been playing a lot of BF4 and I feel like that set me up to fail because I was so used to being to get by as a lone assault.

The second time I logged in and played some games it was infinitely better, mainly due to the fact that I had squaded up and the team work came to the fore.

I think that’s a win for the games developers, and I think for a beta this was a pretty decent look at what the finished product may be. It certainly has a battlefield vibe, even though I feel like it’s quite a few steps away from what BF3 in BF4 were.

This was my experience as well. On my first attempt I was convinced I had become too old and slow to stand a chance. But after a few rounds, into the 2nd day I was getting used to the pace - and a bit of map familiarity helped as well.

The maps were deceptively open and overwhelming at first, they looked huge and complicated and it seemed like people could pop out anywhere at any time. But after a few rounds you can start to see that under the surface, it has the same 'gamified' paths and flanking routes with some pretty set-dressing on top. That's good AND bad - it did result in a few rounds of one team being completely locked in their uncap spawn because the 3 distinct paths out were all being camped completely. Made me nostalgic for the good old days of camping uncaps in Battlefield 2 when your team steamrolled haha.

Still not sure how I feel about this entry. Early days it does seem better than 2042 but that's not saying much. It's fun, but I'll still need to see more. I'm desperate for a good Battlefield again but maybe I need to accept that nothing will compare to the old ones ever again. No server browser for the base game scares me, and it feels like the game is going to be released with an expiration date on it in lower population regions like ours. Time will tell.

I'm no good at it. I rate myself highly in BF1 (FIGJAM ALERT) but I'm horrid at this and don't enjoy it. Poor map layouts with heavily exposed areas imo. Sniping feels like an after thought. I'm sure it has some refining to come but the guns look like cheap plastic toys. Grenades poo, sounds poo. No satisfaction when killing, it's a very dull chink noise and small graphic on the left.

Much agreed on the grenades. They’re pissy little orbs with no oomph.

I had some good games tonight, even MVP on one map, but I think this game definitely goes up a few levels with squad play.

I think they need to do something about assault being able to run a secondary shotgun, I lost count of the amount of times I was shot in the face and killed from 15m in the more frantic maps.

The New York map looks great. I’m keen for the new rendition of firestorm.

It is interesting seeing this kind of feedback, the whole "it's crap because I'm crap at it" type thing, especially with contradictions like "sniping is an afterthought" but "there's heavily exposed areas". Grenades could definitely use some work, but I'm not sure the game needs to include further validation that you killed someone, the hit markers go red and a name appears.

I only played the Beta for a couple of hours over the weekend, the game was becoming quite annoying (especially the new maps). It looks like there are exploits being publicized on Youtube where people are getting to areas they shouldn't be getting to.

I played plenty of the beta and it will be the first day one game I've bought in a long time. Agree with the comments above re the grenades but disagree with the map comments. Admittedly most have said they have not put much time into it and I think thats the main issue. Simply not knowing the maps. Battlefield is back baby.

On a side note, BG2042 release a bunch of shit today. Most importantly new battlepass (alongside a new map, vehicles, weapons). The battlepass has items for BF6 in it. It has weapon, operator and vehicle skins.

Apparently at the very end of the battlepass though.
  • Tier 8 - Western Front Weapon Skin + more (Battlefield 1)
  • Tier 19 - Muller Weapon Skin + more (Battlefield V)
  • Tier 30 - Aurora Vehicle Skin + more (Bad Company 2)
  • Tier 40 - Blackburn Vehicle Skin + more (Battlefield 3)
  • Tier 49 - Commander Soldier Skin + more (Battlefield 4)
  • Tier 60 - Sovereign Soldier Skin + more (Battlefield 2042)
