Also i watched a game of Army/Navy Football and it was the most boring game ive ever seen.

You'd think that rival branches of the military would rip the living shit out of each-other on the sporting field MORE than two 'normal civilian' teams would.

Pity.

Well done to Ben Graham, your career over there is going from strength to strength :thumbsu:

As for this arguement about the NFL, i find the sport enjoyable to watch and can sometimes get excited about it. But there are a couple of things that annoy me about the sport:

1: I don't like the way they finish games in overtime where it is first team to score.

2: The players and coaches are so self-obsessed that they do not even acknowledge the opposition (look at the post-match speech in last seasons super bowl).

Also i watched a game of Army/Navy Football and it was the most boring game ive ever seen.

Agreed.

Nah, for one thing the rivalry is too collegial, and for another thing, those games are so boring because those schools are still stuck in the '60s, running their triple-option halfback offenses that are reminiscent of the "three yards and a cloud of dust" philosophy that everyone else got rid of decades ago.

I guess the tradition is something to respect, though.

Boring, soft sport full of arrogant w***ers.
Many people say that exact thing about AFL. This entire offseason has been pretty much dominated by arrogant w***ers. How many times every year do we hear people saying AFL is soft? or it's nothing but aerial ping pong?

No one that's any good at football wants to join the military to play when they can just as easily get a scholorship to play somewhere else and not have to join.

Some pretty famous cases of people dropping out of both college and even the NFL to join when they jumped into Iraq, Pat Tillman being the most famous because he was killed.

I think Mackie and Hunt would be the best candidates at Geelong. We know Hunt has a massive leg and Mackie can roost but also has AMAZING control of the ball. If he could get used to the shape of the NFL ball Mackie would be my pick.

You've just validated what I said. Pat tillman didn't play football for the military. He went to a civilian college then NFL then joined the military. he never played football while in the military.

Frankly it's beyond me how anyone with half a brain can find yank handball (calling it "football" has to be the biggest joke around) "entertaining". Just a pitiful bastardisation of an already mediocre sport in bumsniffin thugby. The stop...start...stop...start...long 5 minute break for commercials..stop...start nature of the game is even more tedious than the thugbys and don't start me on the so-called "physical" toughness aspect . You wanna real toughness and hardness go and get your fix from watching UFC, boxing or some other crap.

I can't think of anything remotely positive about yank handball. Everything is so structured (barring the QB and receivers) with their big fat arsed whales mostly acting as glorified bouncers blocking/protecting/charging (sheperding) teammates/opposition players, ergo the game is mainly predictable and dull. *YAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWN* Most players out on the field are merely chess pieces for the coach to make moves. There's no room for creativity and free-flowing thinking-on-your- feet spontaneity for the majority of players involved like there's in basketball, footy and soccer the only team games I find interesting for that very reason.

i would of thought mackie is more of an on the run roost. not unlike clinton young for the hawks. need to be able kick it huge off of limited steps for nfl. not sure if mackie would be suited.

huge kick of two steps? jimmy bartel.

hunt would have the leg power but would have to totally refine his kicking action. he's a 60m bullet pass, not a long roost with hang time.
