Hi guys, here is an article I have just written. It is just a short piece, but I thought it would be nice to give a bit of credit to an unsung hero of the 2010 premiership, and a player who has really succeeded against all the odds.

Here is the link:

http://bit.ly/aCeV9q

From the 22 Collingwood players who took to the field in the Grand Final Replay, only 2 remained from the 02/03 Grand Final defeats. This in itself is a story and a secret behind the Magpies all conquering season. Malthouse sent in a young side, with no comprehension of a ‘collywobble’, no history of failure and completely no fear.

High quality as always Dave, well done. I'm really glad he got to hold the cup aloft.

Of all the players, I was most pleased for Ben to win a Premiership and kick a goal. Not only had he been around a long time, played in losing grand finals but most importantly, grew up with Black n White in his veins or so I have heard.

Great article again Dave.

Like I said on Nicks, I have hated the way some on these forums and other boards have treated BJ over the years, he is a true Collingwood hero, and one of the most deserving premiership players ever.:thumbsu:

We will never win a premiership with Ben Johnson in the side

Oh wait

So happy for him, always loved Roids, will forever be remembered as a collingwood hero now

Definitely will.

I'm going to begin to savour every game we have of Ben Johnson because he will definitely be remembered as a true Collingwood premiership player that we'll look back on in years to come as a true B&W hero.

I have to admit I had some reservations about his kicking early on but he has proven again and again that he bleeds black and white AND that I was wrong about his kicking. Thank you Johnno, a true Smith Street warrior and a damn fine kick as well.

I can't remember having defend Roids in a thread for months...

That really says it all.

Great year from BJ and he got exactly what he deserved for many years of hard work.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

GO read all the Collingwood fans best 22 teams for next season and you may feel the need. How anyone could not Have Benny Johnson in their best 22 for next season is beyond me. So versatile and reliable.
He'll go close to a top 10 finish in the B&F this year.
He's probably the player I am happiest for out of the 22.

How good was his body behind the ball job in the drawn Grand Final, bundle the ball out to Reid to Shaw, we clear, we come back next week, we win a premiership. Vital.

Well written Dave, Benny has toiled long and hard for the Pies and overall has recieved far less acknowledgement than he has deserved. He has upheld the traits that became synonymous with the wearer of #26 since Rowdy took it up. Courage, perseverance, dedication to the Magpie cause, total committment to the team and all without attempting to take any of the limelight. If anyone wants to know how significant his contribution is, all they need do is, look at our team performances whenever he is out. Benny is often not noticed when he is there but when he is not, we have put in some of our worst performances.
Well done Benny, I salute you.

Yeah, loved his work this year after struggling to see how he could fit into the team before the start of the season. By all accounts he worked enormously hard over the pre-season and he almost looked like a new player.

Love his long goals from from 50 out, Benny J wheeling round on the left is always a highlight when it happens. His footskills this year have been fantastic, it used to be a weakness at times but he's managed to turn it into a strength.

I have had a love hate realtionship with Benny over the years, as a wee chap when he first started I loved the way he went about his footy I said to my uncle and cousin who I went to the footy with that he would be a star, they didn't agree. A few years later and he was ripping it up and I was praised for my foresight. Then from 07-09 his form dropped and it was hard to see a way for him to turn it around, despite being a "goer" he was very outside, one sided and turned the ball over far too much defensively. To his credit he worked his arse off to get back into good form and he is a player who has made the most of the talent he has and made a ripping career despite having major limitations.

BJ bought me a Jagerbomb on my 18th - for that I'll be forever grateful!

Brilliant piece of writing Dave, without your weekly game run downs I think my brain is going to rot this summer...

Thanks Dave, excellent as always.

BJ is a true Magpie warrior now, and I also think he'll now be remembered as a legend of the club.

Two things I really like about him are the way he fought back and turned his career around after looking close to finished at times, and also the quiet humility he seems to have. A bit Luke Ball like in that regard.

So happy for the guy now to have that premiership to remember and cherish for the rest of his life...so deserved after the blood and sweat he's put in for our Pies.

I to wanna show my life for this bloke. He is the most underrated player in the AFL, his run from deffence has been outstanding through out his career and I am just so pleased he has a premiership medalion for his service. He has been a Pie fan all his life, true Collingwood bloke.
