Know that they knocked of Last years premiers Williamstown by 36 points, with Marc Bullen B.O.G. How did Hunt, Laycock, Cartledge, Bradley, Alvey and Cupidoll go, as they are all in contention for a game this week?

I'm just going by what I've been told:

Hunt was ok, not great, but not poor. Just did his job well enough.

Laycock went off at half time and did not reappear. Apparently he injured his knee in a ruck contest.

Not much was said about Carts or Bradley or Alvey.

Cupido had a shocker. There's a theory that he was told he would come back into the senior lineup so he was told to just have a bit of a run around and not get injured. I think that's a load of absolute crap.

Bullen was BOG.

Dyson was going well early, received a knock to the head and was concussed, but came back on later and was ok. Not sure if he'll miss this week or not.

Richards worked hard as usual and contested strongly. I think he played in defence, but I'm not sure. I haven't actually heard where he played, so I'm going by him being named at FB and him not kicking any goals.

Is Laycock alright to play in the seniors yhis week.

No one knows. But apparently he didn't even come out of the rooms after half time. Given that, and that the knee injury was sustained in a ruck contest, he's probably looking at at least a month out.

I'd be more inclined to give Cartledge a go ahead of him anyway, Laycock needs to work harder and show that he really wants to become a good senior player. Cartledge has been doing well as first ruck for Bendigo, in any case.

As posted on BB by Alan_Noonan_#10:

Senior Listed players:-
Cupido - as described earlier, not very good and if giving Sunscore votes possibly say 0 out of 10
Alvey - did little in the first and came right back into it, but too many dinky shortpasses inboard
Bradley - did better early but not really enough for promotion.
Walsh - best game I've seen from him all season. Kicked a couple but does run a bit too far at times
Richards - played at CHB and dominated early. Little quieter but still took some good grabs later.
Cartledge - had to carry the ruck. Got a bit of it but made some silly blues. Kicked a nice goal to seal it.
Laycock - had little impact and didn't return after half-time due to injury. Wouldn't have had more than a couple of kicks.
Hunt - started well and got a bit of it, but failed to contest on a couple of important occasions. Seems to have the occasional brainfart.
Dyson - kicked 2 good goals in the first (one a classic from the wrong boundary line) but got concussion in the second when his head collided with a Willy player's knee (complete accident - just two guys sliding for the same ball), came back in the last and did a couple of good things.
Bullen - quiet in the first but very very good after quarter time. Great play to set up the goal to put us back 3 in front after Willy had got to 2 goals halfway through the last.
Nash - quiet achiever. Unobtrusive player who probably needs to asset himself more.

Rookies -
Cosgriff - played half-back. Took one great courageous mark.
Lovett - far too pretty. Muffed about 5 handpasses by failing to allow for the heavy ball.
Wilson - tries to do too much. Did some good things though.
Summers - kicked the first 2 goals. Did a little more but not that much.

We missed 4 kickable goals at the beginning of the third, and Willy then dominated for the next 40 minutes or so. Their passes were coming off and ours weren't. Until Bullen broke through for a pass to Walsh, we then kicked a few late ones to get back to 6 goals.

Moorcroft, Carter and Doering played good games and would have been in the best 6.

Another poster stated that on BT they're saying it could be a six week injury to Laycock. :(

Richards in for Wellman... Please. Far too talented a player to be playing in the VFL. He was always going to need a longer apprenticeship because he didn't play a lot of TAC footy. But you'd think that he's ready now. Doesn't always dominate in the VFL, but rarely seems to go missing.

Who will replace Hille then? Cartledge or Bradley?

Assuming he is dropped...

I think you'd have to go with Carts. He is the ruckman next in line. Bradley is a 6'6" midfielder/wingman, not really a ruckman.

You'd have to drop Hille. Had a shocking season, needs a rocket.
Wuld agree that Cartledge is next in line, but isn't he injured?

Yeah, I agree he should be dropped, but it just depends how the coaching staff see it. What may save Hille is that the coaching staff may not want to make too many changes, and given that we've already got two forced changes - and perhaps more coming up - Hille may get lucky.

Cartledge did roll his ankle a couple of weeks ago, from memory. But he played yesterday, so I gather he's ok. And considering that he had to carry the ruck yesterday, that would seem to indicate that he's fit enough to play.

I wouldn't be playing Carts in the ones yet. I reckon he might be ready beginning 2006. I'd prefer to play Bradley, but more as a roaming forward with possible ruck in the forward line. I don't think they'll be able to drop Hille ATM. Bargey on BT was speculating on Chook's knee. We didn't even see him after half-time so how could he possibly judge. He didn't get carried off or anything. But saying that - he MIGHT be out for 6 weeks...we as fans just don't know yet.

For those who didn't know, I'm AN10 on BB.
