Where's the improvement coming from kangaroo flat? How can you lose even a practice match to a club that has imploded in an off season.
You can't just play kids, they need some experience to help them, flaz has to pull the boots on round 1 to help guide them on field like a Luke Hodge
Who did they play old mate?
Shepp United. Will finish a distant last in the GV this year.Who did they play old mate?
Yep Shepp United, where nearly every man and his dog left in the off seasonWho did they play old mate?

Don’t tell me that dog that’s at every game with the United Jumper on has left. My kids loved looking out for him
They've always had a really strong junior system, with the club getting two junior clubs funnelled into them, so I'd be surprised they are struggling for thirdsHad word that Gisborne absolutely flying and very confident of knocking off strath and square - I heard they are battling in under 18s but look like they could go all the way in seniors
Yeah their juniors are incredibly strong - The new Gisborne giants under 19s and under 17s may have diluted their pool though. And they are not fond of each other I’m hearing the animosity between the two is very hostile - anyway a good club who will only continue to improveThey've always had a really strong junior system, with the club getting two junior clubs funnelled into them, so I'd be surprised they are struggling for thirds
I was working in Daylesford last week and got told they were in big trouble this year and that Castlemaine of recent years would give them a run for there money so might have been noting more than a training run for Kyneton.I snuck down to Daylesford on Saturday to watch them and Kyneton. Kyneton comfortably won by 22 goals. Would have thought it would have been much more competitive to be honest.
Speaking to a few of the Tigers faithful they said 5 walk up starters didn’t play, who will all be ready for round 1
I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom at flat. They know they won’t compete this year but they have a lot of really promising players in the 20-23 age bracket. Liam Collins returning as well after winning mount pleasant b&f. I heard Eaglehawk had a good hit out against either Kerang or Koondrook or somewhere starting with a K on the weekend and looked sharp so they might be one to keep an eye on in the first few weeks.
Catching up on this thread it sounds like grim news for Kangaroo Flat this year, which isn’t good for them given the coach has been there 2-3 years now and doesn’t look like they are trending where they’d want to be.
The last 2-3 years isn't an ideal sample size Bart. No season in 2020 and half a season in 2021 so very difficult for Flaherty to get games into the young players at his disposal. Don't be too harsh Bart as a difficult time with Covid.I was working in Daylesford last week and got told they were in big trouble this year and that Castlemaine of recent years would give them a run for there money so might have been noting more than a training run for Kyneton.

Daylesford are in all sorts this year with a lack of players and general quality too. Unfortunately COVID has played its part with many of the Melbourne based players electing not to return in 2022. Daylesford Is a proud club and will fight back but their malaise is common across numerous clubs in the region that are struggling with numbers on field and volunteers off it.I was working in Daylesford last week and got told they were in big trouble this year and that Castlemaine of recent years would give them a run for there money so might have been noting more than a training run for Kyneton.

I do recall going back to a 10 year reunion at kerang, I'd being retired for a few years from footy, and a few guys wondered what did I do on a Saturday then. Footy does take up a lot of time, Tuesday and Thursday trainings, maybe even more now, all day Saturday, maybe people are time poor and are happy to not play and do other things and just rock up and watch an odd game.Seems like the worst thing about Covid for footy, is people realised how happy they could be without it.

Castlemaine played South Melbourne District yesterday and had a win.
25 minute quarters with a mix of seniors and reserves and a bit scrappy at times in warm conditions but definitely a much improved side.
Maine missed a few key players, including Tom Horne and had a few out with Covid. Zac Denahy from Harcourt probably kicked 10.
Opposition was only a division three side but some good signs.
