I'm not saying your rumor is false, but Mark Allen and the Ox are saying they're hearing these 'whispers' as well. Off the SMS that is.

It would be a shame but the fact of the matter is he is over 30,has persistent soft tissue injuries and his best football is most probably behind him.

But that being said he has had a wonderful career and he has played well in numerous blockbuster games including anzac day to which he won an anzac day medal and in all of collingwoods last 5 grand final apperances

Playing fantastically in both losing grand finals to brisbane and in the drawn and winning grand finals against the saints and the geelong loss.

so if he is hanging up the boots he has nothing to regret.

If the rumours are true on behalf of all collingwood supporters past and present old and young thank you Ben " johnno" Johnson for being a loylal servant of the collingwood football club and a certain inductee into the collingwood hall of fame.

Isn't this pretty common knowledge as i believe BJ stated he would be retiring this year before season started
Could be wrong though.

He is not retiring immediately, is he?

Yeah, I dare say this is just the work one of those great journos like Robbo, who have put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5 again.

We haven't even heard how severe the injury is, but it is almost certain to be BJ's last season, unless something happened to change his mind.

I read the same story he was stating that if the mighty pies took out the flag this year he would almost definitley hang up the boots but if they didnt take out the flag then he would assess where he is at the end of the season and he might possibly go another year.

Not to mention his tackle on Peter Burgoyne in the QF of 2002:D

If true (that his season, and career is over:() we are now at tipping point, with the loss of 4 best 22 players to probable season ending injuries (Caff and Krak slight chances to return).

I reckon we are one season ending injury away from not being able to win the flag, as harsh of a call as that is.

As for BJ, he has bled black and white for this club, and as my profile pic shows, he will be the first of our 2010 premiership "rat pack" to retire.

God I hope this ain't true.

I really hope this isn't true.
He has been a favourite of mine for a long time.

On a side note.
Does anyone know what his contract was worth?
This could really help us with negotiations of our uncontracted players.

God I hope this isn't true. Would be a horrible way for him to go out. :(

Still think we can cover this loss but our depth is going to be really tested now.

My favorite moment by Collingwood's #26.

Love That Moment too in a Classic Collingwood Game

Shattered, such a good player. This probably means Buckley will be in the side for the rest of the year.

This really isn't our season. I'm in two minds whether we will make the finals TBH.

Keep the faith always time for someone else to rise....

I hope it's not true, but it is looking likely if there is an "announcement" tomorrow.

Ben Johnson, Born supporting Collingwood and won the ultimate for Collingwood. Fitting he wore the #26 as it is a very similar story like another gutsy Collingwood legend.

It has been very quiet about his shoulder injury but it has also been quiet about Fasolos' who looked very proppy at the end of the game.

4 season ending injuries to just about all best 22 players when our depth was only about 26/27 players at the start of the year, is just stating it's not gunna be your year. We need a lot of luck injury wise from here, if this rumour is true.
